I.. By direction of the President, a Board of Officers will assemble
in this city at 12 m. on Wednesday, the 28th instant, or as soon
thereafter as practicable, to examine into and determine the facts in
relation to the nature and occasion of the disability of such officers
disabled to perform military service as may be brought before it.
The Board will be guided in its action by such sections of the act
of Congress approved August 3, 1861, providing for it, as may be
applicable to the subject.

Col. B. F. Lamed, Paymaster General.
Surgeon E. H. Abadee, Medical Staff.
Surgeon Josiah Sampson, Medical Staff.
Major Innis Palmer, 5th Cavalry, will act as recorder of the Board.
II.. Any officer of the Army who has served as such for forty con¬
secutive years and desires to be retired from active service will
immediately make an application to that effect to the Adjutant
General.
