FOREWORD

From the time of Marmion and William the Conqueror
(1066) to Everett Aborn Bradway (1918) twenty-six gen-
erations have appeared upon the stage.

Accepting the historic statement that both William the
Conqueror and Marmion were decendants (6th generation)
from a common ancestor Rollo (860) , Everett Aborn Brad-
way can trace his ancestry for thirty-two generations, over
a space of 1 058 years, or more than one half of the Chris-
tian era,

MARMYUN— DYMOKE— DiMOCK.

Both William, afterwards called the Conqueror, and the Marmions
were descendants (6th generation) from a common ancestor, Rollo (A. D.
860) called "the ganger" from his marvellous activity.

*******

When William came over to seek his fortune in England he brought
with him, as might have been expected, his Champion, Sir Robert Mar-
mion, the Sire or Lord of Fontenay.

*******

The present Champion is a lineal descendant of Sir Philip Marmion
.through the lady whose marriage with the Gloucester Knight in the days
of Edward III., is the link that connects the houses of Dymoke and Mar-
mion.

There is no doubt that Sir Philip Marmion was directly descended
irom the great Robert Dispensator, who accompanied William of Nor-
mandy in his descent upon England in the year 1066.
