Fig. 6 - Achillea sp. (Asteraceae). Achillea with hairy and aromatic leaves is a genus of 85 species in
Europe and Temperate Asia. It is also an important larval and nectar plant of many moths and butterflies.

Fig.7 - Phlomis sp. {Lamiaceae). Phlomis is a genus of more than 100 species in Mediterranean, Turkey,
and Central Asia. Phlomis species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species,
including Muschampia poggei (Hesperiidae), which is common at Natopa, and Qarokhan [see fig.22].

Fig. 9 - Gundelia tournefortii (Asteraceae). is a spiny, thistle-like flowering plant. It occurs in steppe and
semi-desert areas in the Middle East countries. At Natopa, two kind of Gundelia may be dicriminated;
blackish and yellowish-green. The blackish one [illustrated] is not visited by honey bees, while the yellowish-

Fig.io - Crataegus sp. (Rosaceae). Aporia crataegi (Pieridae) is uncommon at Natopa grassland and
mountain steppe, as its foodplant, Crataegus is a remnant at this locality. Hawthorn (Crataegus) is a genus
of shrubs and trees, and provides food and shelter for many species of birds and mammals, and its flowers

dangerous conditions are dedicated to the souls of the Turkish Martyrs, our spiritual protectors.
