"Misfortune, distress and suffering in Russia is so
widespread, so enormous, that words cannot de-
scribe it. If human kindness still exists on this earth,
then a heart must bleed wherever a heart exists"
DR. FRIDTJOF NANSEN, High Commissioner, Russian Famine.
Men and Women of America,
I workers all, prove you have
1 hearts that bleed for these:
{£ for 10,000,000 withered children crying in vain for a crust of bread*
for 20,000,000 unfortunate men and women who, by famine, inva*
ision and boycott denied the fruits of their toil, have been cast
on the rack to be slowly broken by the cruel torture of hunger*
for the 50,000 doomed to perish each day in the famine areas, this
day, and to-morrow, dying in fearful agony*
for the anguished mother, goaded by hopeless impotence to drown
her wasting children*
for the maddened human beings who, here and there, driven by
an unconquerable craving eat the corpses of the fallen*
for a people, more than one tenth of humanity, who, blockaded by the
Wall Streets of the world, having repelled imperialist invasion, now
face this famine which brings misery and suffering such as this modern
world has never known*
Workers all, have you hearts that bleed for these?
THEN QIVE J
Qive of your bread, however modest the gift of your meager store
may be I
Qive to still the piteous cries of the poor Russian children!
Qive to save thousands every day from the awful sentence of death by starvation!
Qive and sign the Roll Call so that your name, with those of hundreds of
thousands of others, may constitute a message of solidarity such as will
give new strength and courage to Soviet Russia!
Qive generously, that the coming Spring may find the Volga prairies, not
silent with death, a great graveyard white with millions of skeletons,
but astir with the hopeful living activity of a delivered people, toiling
anew for a better world!
Qive, men, women and children, give in multitudes, give mightily, so that
every one of the many ships now leaving for Russia shall go laden with
life-saving gifts from you!
Sign the Roll Call! Have a Heart! Give!

WORKING-MEN and women, friends and sympathizers, all
whose names stand here, have given to Soviet Russia in the
hour of her direst need. They have fed the hungry and
clothed the naked of Russia, thereby breathing fresh courage into the
hearts of those who have been bold enough to strike for freedom.
The signatures here appended attest to the International solidarity of
the workers and those in sympathy. Surrounded by prejudice, they
have dared to place the public seal of their trust and hope in the
World's First Labor Republic.
