The Haunter of the Ring by Robert E. Howard. This is a scan from the 1978 Black Canaan collection by Berkley Publishing Corporation. Copywrite is June 1934 and there is no record at http://comminfo.rutgers.edu/~lesk/copyrenew.html or http://collections.stanford.edu/copyrightrenewals/bin/page?forward=home of it being renewed, and thus should be in the public domain.

Copyright Free
This appears in Project Gutenberg Australia, and shows up as copyright-free as the copyright of the magazine was never renewed. So clear to download. Those interesting might want to check out Project Gutenberg Australia, as that has a large number of Howard stories. This is one of Howard at his horror best.

Thanks Shadows_Girl
I've gone over the public indexes of copyright renewals and there is no record of it ever being renewed. Aside from a bunch of Conan stuff the only things I found by him was a poetry collection, a single short story collection that did not include this story, and one short story.

A Word About Copyrights
"The copyright is 1934 and thus expired".
Unless it was later renewed. The copyright page on the copy you have can't tell you that.
