THE ORGANISATION OF DEFENCE On 2ist February^ 1939, the Prime Minister spoke in the House of Commons on the growing strength of the country and the plans which had been made for organising the nations defence. These had just been reinforced by the appointment of a distin- guished naval officer. Lord Chatfield, as Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence^ assisted by the new Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster', Mr. W* S. Morrison.
