the High Point College campus con-

During the month of January, our students en-
gaged in a variety of learning experiences. Some of
the business majors toured the financial districts of
New York.

for several students.

Other stimulating courses kept many students on
campus during Interim.
32° and snowy grounds found this year's Homecoming
a chilly hut happy occasion. Parents and loved ones
accompanied their HPC students to concerts, movies,
and the great basketball games. Student Government
and supporters had prepared the campus with a "clean-
up" drive and posters.

Homecoming Week-End. Weeks of preparation
made all the work worthwhile because of group
involvement, and pride when the floats were
displayed.
First prize in the competition went to the Delta
Sigma Phi fraternity.

Point", Barb Gheen and Helen Browning prepare to

Entering their first year of intercollegiate
competition, the members of the 1971 soccer
team brought the deep interest and fiery enthu-
siasm left from last year's soccer club. Even
though their 1-9 record does not show it, the
team gave High Point something to be proud
of. One has to respect the team for their 110%
effort during the long practices and on the play-
ing field.

country team compiled an
admirable 8-5-1 record in
NAIA District 26 competi-
tion this year, which in-
cluded H.P.C.'s fourth
consecutive district cham-
pionship. Led by team cap-
tains Lloyd Davis and Eric
Noren, the Purple Panthers
fought back competition
from many strong schools
in the area. The laurels the
team brought back to High
Point culminated with the
selection of Coach Bob

with a full schedule. A fifteen
girl squad played to a 3-3-2 regu-
lar season record and a 1-1-1
record in the Deep South
Tourny. With the experience
gained this year, the team ex-
pects an even better season next
year.

As the girl's sport's year moved
on so did the members of the volley-
ball team. After suffering their first
defeat at the very start of the sea-
son, the team bounded back to de-
feat teams from many of the areas
powerful schools. Ending the sea-
son with a 4-4-3 record, the team
looks forward to the prospects of
an even better season next year.

new head coach, some outstanding
freshmen, the core from last year's
team, and the determination, dedi-
cation, and fortitude of a winner.
Despite the fact of the 13-15 season
record, the team is one which HPC
can be proud. Their record doesn't
show the on the court performances
of each and every member of the
team. The total dedication and
determination is what this team
showed, as well as the promise of
an outstanding season, and an
outstanding team next year.

capabilities the Pantherettes under
Coach Betty Jo Clary opened their
season ready to give all comers a
light for victory. After suffering a
loss to ASU the team fought back to
win the next 5 straight. They finished
out the season with a fine 8-5 record,
and hopes for much success at the
first annual State Tournament to be
held at HPC. Next years team,
building on the success of the 72
squad promises to bring much
glory back to HPC Pantherettes.

team looks forward to an even more successful out-
door schedule. The team's strength in distance
events, supplemented by members of the 71 cross
country team promises to be a highlight of the season.
With the addition of the field events 1972 shows it will
be an outstanding year for Coach Davidson's Purple
Panther Track Team.

1972 brings H.P.C. a chance for an excellent tennis
season. Lead by returning lettermen Javier Sanjines,
and Mike Smith, who played #1 and #2 last year, the
team in the words of Coach Ray Alley "We have a lot
of freshmen on the team this year but probably have
more tennis talent than we've had in perhaps fifteen
years. With their eyes looking towards the coming
season and possible tournaments berths, the team
hopes any mistakes they do make will be early so they
will be ready to take H.P.C. to greater heights when
the tournaments arrive.

Women's Recreation Association,
was played to a 0-0 tie. The game
pitted team of freshman-senior
girls against the team of sopho-
more and junior girls. Though
the game resulted in a tie, all
involved agreed it was a worth-
while and enjoyable contest.

with the possibility of continuing their command of
the conference, and with all the requirements to do
that and more. If more strength can be added to the
bullpen, most see no reason why the Panthers will
not add even more victories and awards to those
which have already made High Point the baseball

Gamma Zeta of Phi Mu
Looking back, this surely has been a fantastic, fun-
filled, PHI MU filled year for all of us. Many exciting
things have happened in the lives of our sisters. For a
few examples, Charlene and Cyndy both gave Caro-
lina hubbies; Ginny has graduated and now finds
herself up in the third grade, leaving Ovie to make
those long trips down the hall alone. Their "strange"
rumors have been transferred to Hampton and her
new roomie, Baby. Earle is moaning over her bar—
rackridden honey while trying to advise Dawn on
how to train Woobers. Each week we find ourselves
asking Shipe "Who will it be this weekend, no. 1, 2,
or 3?" Jeri and Vicki seem to have spent a great deal
of time at the auto repair shop this year — and, Mar-
cia, what's wrong with the "Blue Baby" THIS week?
While Bev is looking around for a T.M.O.C., Rosie
and Gilbert seem to have "Diamond-envy" of their
roommates, Phyllis and Bush, the mail-order
fiancee. Judy is it true blondes have more fun, or
wouldn't you rather be black? Guess Brugger will
stay a blonde for a while. Wish Blaine and Barb
could have been on the Hall this year. Peggy, are
Jeffs rashes caused by an allergy to you? . . . And
Anne, are you an Army or a Navy fan? Rumor has it
that J.D. thinks Janis is "loads" of fun. What would
we do without Robin who keeps us "rocking" with all
her traumatic experiences? In fact, what would we
all do without each other to share our experiences?!

Iota Phi of Lambda Chi Alpha
1971-1972 has been a difficult year for Lambda Chi
Alpha. Because of rushing violations, we were not
allowed to pledge men until January which caused
us to have our seven "friends". This year our old
system of pledging was abolished. Lambda Chi has
started an associate member program which we feel
gives the associate member a more realistic picture
of the fraternity and helps us live up to our open
motto "Every Man A Man".

As another year draws to a close, we will always
remember the great "parties" and "frolics" we've
shared as members of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Rush school started off with a big "bang" when
Grandmother hit the floor with Aunt Joyce's bed
in a shambles around her. Luckily, our star per-
formers survived a dunking in the depths and we
were all ready to rock out 'til dawn — as usual!!
(Go Little Lib!)
Who could keep straight as this year proved no
exception and provided many titles for our beloved
sisters? Little Lib, Snoopy, Chuck, Hosek, Greenie,
Munchkin, T.B., Chicken and Numie — a few of the
tamer ones.
In spite of Old Man Winter's efforts, the pledge
dance survived — as we all skidded and slid through
the snow for one of the best times ever! The Holiday
Inn will probably never recover!
The looth Link Ball, State Day, and National Con-
vention bring recognition for Delta Gamma's fan-
tastic bunch with awards in scholarship, campus
involvement, spirit, Zeta Pride, and — above all —
Sisterhood.
Still tops when in and out windows, having car
troubles, perching chickens on shoulders, rallying at
O.D., Zeta Tau Alpha knows her seniors will "Re-
member" and looks forward to "Today" and another
fabulous year with a sisterhood that lasts forever!

of Alpha Phi Omega actively pursue the principles of
the fraternity. This is done through leadership . . .
taking active roles in campus and community organi-
zations; friendship . . . helping with freshman orien-
tation, hosting prospective students, taking "little"
brothers from the community; and service ... by
helping the campus, community, and nation, through
such activities as, aiding in national charity drives,
sponsoring community litter drives, sponsoring the
blood mobile, planning Boy Scout camporees, plant-
ing daffodils, and taking I.D.'s.

Reflections of 1972 for Alpha Delta Theta find an
enthusiastic, dedicated force striving to fulfill their
goal as "sisters in the service of God."
This year service projects have included giving
vespers, supporting an orphan in Korea, as well as
doing service projects out at the Presbyterian Home.
Fun and friendship have characterized the year
starting with two new pledges and continuing
through the Retreats. Fall and spring retreats were
an inspiration in themselves. Big sisters, Heart sis-
ters, and Banquets were special treats, while parties
and peak-of-excitement candlelights have made each
day unique.
Yes, this is the mirror of Alpha Delta Theta . . .
one that is made strong by its bond as "sisters in the
service of God."
