New Academic Year

We marked the opening of the fall 2013 academic
year with our traditional All-College Convocation
and Faculty Institute, on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Faculty and staff had the opportunity to meet our
new President, Dr. Valerie Roberson. We also
learned about RoxMAPP from guests Dr. Gary,
head of school, Madison Park High School, and
from Dr. Matthew Malone, Secretary of Education.

Additionally, Linda Apple, from the Museum of Fine
Arts, joined us to announce the gift of a university
membership, donated by former Roxbury resident,
Nancy Lane. It is our expectation that faculty, staff,
and students will take advantage of Ms. Lane's
thoughtful and generous gift.

Kudos to RCC

Career Services

According to results of NACE's 2012 Student Survey, new
graduates who took part in an internship program are
more likely to have received a job offer than their peers
who decided to forgo the experience. Despite the
economic slowdown in Massachusetts, some Roxbury
Community College interns are still being offered either
part-time or full-time employment opportunities at the
end of their internship experience. Visit the NACE
website: www.naceweb.org

CC's successful partnership with Harvard School of Public
Health (HSPH) has proven to be a great pipeline for
qualified candidates. HSPH has placed three RCC interns
into regular, full time positions since its initial launch in
2012!

The Career Development and Internship Services
Department is happy to announce that a fourth RCC
intern, majoring in 1ST is pleased to accept a position as a
Tech Support at Harvard School of Public Health after
completing his internship this summer.

RCC continues to nurture these partnerships and this Fall
internships are open to students majoring in a wide
variety of fields.
