PARTING HYMN, ^

By a Member of the Graduating Class. <^ 4fd'£c. f

Farewell ! we meet on earth no more!

I*

This  is  no  more  our  home  or  rest ;
Yet memory often shall restore

This scene of peace and friendship blest.

We part ! — but not in gloomy tears, —

Let joy and hope our watchwords be !
Duty and zeal dispel our fears,

And urge us on Life's billowy sea.

Some to the Western wilds afar, —

Whence comes the native Indian's cry ;*

Others to our own hamlets bear

The bread of life for souls that die. "*

We go ! but part though now we must, —

In heart, in hope, in memory one, ,^

And one in God, in whom we trust, —
We'll meet then — when our work is done.

* Three of the graduating class are expected to be stationed among the
Indians, West of the Rocky Mountains.
