FOREWORD

This publication is a replica of the ART SOUVENIR OF
REPRESENTATIVE MEN, PUBLIC BUILDINGS, PRIVATE RESI-
DENCES, BUSINESS HOUSES; the volume was originally published
by the FORT WAYNE GAZETTE in 1894.

The Boards and the Staff of the Public Library of Fort Wayne
and Allen County issue the ART SOUVENIR fully realizing that it
portrays a picture which bears little resemblance to the present.
So little pictorial material is extant today relating to nineteenth
century Fort Wayne; this book is one of the few authentic fragments
of the remote past that possesses accurateness and vividness.
