"Lives of great men all remind us. we can make our lives sublime,
and, departing leave behind us. FOOTPRINTS ON THE
S.IXDS OF TIME."
No other work, phrase, sentence, or book could better explain our stav at A. and
P., and the progress made by the school, than those words written hv Henrv W.
Longfellow in his poem "A Psalm of Life" FOOTPRINTS ON THE SANDS
OF 1'I.ME. The staff, therefore, has chosen this quotation as the theme for this
publication.
The staff wishes to express its appreciation to President F. D. Bluford for his
faith in our ability to edit this publication, and to Messers W. M. Bryant, and
G. E. Williams, whose assistance and cooperation have been sources of inspiration.
This book is our life. Each page is intended to provoke reminiscence, because
it is here that we have lived. This book bears attetation to A. and T.'s scenic
beauty, to her perpetual spirit, and to the loyalty of her sons and daughters. We
have inherited her spirit, drunk from her beauty and knowledge, and become a part
of her.
The duties of the staff have been pleasurable though at times difficult. Each word
and each picture within these covers is representative of a school that is making
eternal "FOOTPRINTS ON THE SANDS OF TIME."

We have a good staff, headed hy James A. Long,
Editor-in-chief : and James Beckett, associate editor.
We also have some good, hard workers in Arthur
B. Word, E. Henry Girven, Thomas Richardson,
Albert Atlas, and a few others. Our advisory staff
is excellent. We have eveything to insure you a
good newspaper, if you'll just tell us from time to
time what you want.
Ours is a thankless task, but we asked for it so
we don't complain. We don't ask to be appreciated
— we don't even ask for less criticism and more
cooperation from you — we only ask to be allowed to
get our, beg your pardon, YOUR Register out on

Srrtior Class President
Now that we are leaving Dear Old A. and T., I congratulate all graduating
seniors and wish the remaining portion of the student hody good luck.
The entire Ayantee Staff deserves commendation for its efforts in the prepara-
tion of this yearbook. .Mr. Wendell Bryant, Mr. George Williams, Julius Kilgore,
Jordan Corhett, Henry Dawson, and Thomas Richardson are to be especially con-
gratulated for their splendid cooperation and work in making this yearbook possible.
We accept the challenge of the future with sincerity of purpose and humility.
In turning to the realities of life, we hope very sincerely that our various contrib-
utions, great and small, may in a small wav, compensate for the attention, aid and
training extended so unselfishly by our parents, faculty and friends.

Campus organizations are the most important forms
of social activity for any student. Through these or-
ganizations the student learns to express himself intel-

Organizations provide the student with a means of us-

T/icJe 7kfh#J We trie fieAt
Upon numerous occasions we Aggies .nailed ourselves of the opportunity to enrich
our cultural tendencies through the activities sponsored by our various groups and
societies.
The Richard B. Harrison Payers are continuing to present magnificent enter-
tainment under the guidance of Prof. Roy H. "The Hard" Brown. The Choral
Society conducted by the colorful Prof. C. A. Braithwaite has succeeded, through
its superlative performances, in establishing itself as an institution within our greater
institution. Seth McCoy, among others, has been active in most of the achievements
of the Society in the past four years.
Prof. Walter F. Carlson has molded one-hundred instrumentalists into one of
the best bands in the country, and the hand has established itself as a favorite medium
of entertainment. It lends itself unselfishly to any and all occasions; whether it is
meeting the Governor of our State or playing at the Memorial Stadium or an
American Legion Parade.
All of these have made indelible footprints on the sands of time. The Richard B.
Harrison Players, the Choral Society, the Band, the Modern Dance Group, and
the various Art Shows have instilled in us a pronounced desire for cultural advance-
ment and created an atmosphere highlj conducive to the development of progressive
cultural pursuits.

From Prexy, an ardent sports tan of the first water, down to the little freshman
woman who thinks a foothall coach has four wheels, we Aggies are puffed-up with
pride over the way our teams have "brought home the bacon" time after time during
the 1950 school year.
\\ e had a few dark moments, of course — that last — 30 seconds loss to Tennessee
State at Homecoming left many strong rooters for the home team visibly shaken and
troubled in mind — hut on the whole the foothall season was a success. Our loss,
come Commencement Day, of some of the plavers who have made football history
at A. and T. — Garrison, "Stonewall" Jackson, Ogleshy, Harshaw. Kelly, and
Howell — is great, but we have strong hopes that the men who will fill their shoes
will lead the team to an even greater success next football season.
As the "Ayantee" goes to press the baseball team has us in the clouds with its
ten-game winning streak as against one loss — the opening game of the season. Runner-
ups in the CIAA conference last year, the Aggie baseball men, now leading the con-
ference, are fighting hard to send their coach, "Jumpin' Joe" Echols, off to his new
job as head coach at Morehouse with a pennant.
At track and boxing the Aggies are for this year "wa\ out in front." We are. of
course, highly elated, but not surprised.
Tribute should be given to our coaches — Head Coach "Big Bill" Bell, and his
staff, Joseph Echols, Bert Piggott, Matthew Brown, and Felix Harris. We say,
however-— and we think they agree with us — that the spirit of cooperation, sports-
manship in the face of both victory and defeat, courage and desire-to-win that our
teams show, plus the victories they've won and the loyal support thev have of three-
thousand Aggies, is the highest tribute they could receive.
