The Tri Deltas had a successful year, with both
their group efforts and individual achievement. Phi
Phi Chapter boasts of members actively serving in
the Senate, student-faculty committees, and several
honorary fraternities. Tri Deltas added two more
trophies to their new trophy case by tying for the
scholarship trophy and winning first place in
Homecoming Display Competition. The Tri Deltas
also combined efforts to win second place in the
Circle K Sing Night.

Tri Delta names can be found on the President's
List, in the Top Ten Beauties, among campus
favorites and in professional clubs. Four Tri Deltas
were named to Who's Who: Sherry Cribbs, Becky
Ellis, Gayla Hamilton and Becky Pounds. Ann
Dickerson and Sherry Cribbs are cheerleaders.
Becky Pounds is President of Women's Judiciary
and Becky Ellis is SGA secretary. The KA's chose
Maronda Lee to be KA Rose and the M Club
selected Sherry Cribbs to be Sweetheart. Tri Deltas,
Nena Jennings and Ann Dickerson were Home-
coming Maids. Tri Deltas also were elected to
several class offices.

The Tri Deltas have many yearly traditions. They
award a deserving coed a scholarship each year
through the profits made from the annual Tri Delta
Talent Show. They enjoy swaps, formals and
midnight pranks. Working together Tri Deltas are
building a sisterhood their predecessors and
successors will be proud to claim.

The spirit of Kappa Delta has been present on
campuses all over the nation since the beginning
in 1897 at Farmville, Virginia. Members of Gam-
ma Psi Chapter are active in the Senate, Student-
Faculty committees, and several honorary fraterni-
ties.

KD's are well represented on the President's List
and Ann Babb, Marsha Hobson, and Nan Bailey
were elected to the Who's Who in American Col-
leges. Five KD's are in the top ten beauties on
campus, several were chosen favorites, and Ann
Garrett is a cheerleader. Some Gamma Psi mem-
bers who hold titles are: Diane Bobo, Homecoming
Queen;  Nan  Bailey,  Phi  Kappa  Tau  Sweetheart;
and Kathy Prince, Miss Delta.

The Kappa Deltas now hold the Circle K Sing
Night trophy and also the plaque awarded for
selling the most tickets. Their social activities range
from Big Sister-Little Sister parties, to Founders
Day Banquets to formal dances.

The KD's help with the Easter Seal Drive each
year and sponsor a child at Haven Hall for Handi-
capped Children in Jackson.

The Iota Kappa Chi Fraternity was organized
in December, 1968 to unite a heterogeneous body
of men who were willing "to maintain high
academic, cultural, moral, spiritual, and social
standards."

The main purpose of the fraternity, as a uni-
fied body, promotes a compassionate tone of
activism in that it strives "to provide leadership
for a wholesome college atmosphere on Delta
State College campus." This atmosphere is per-
petuated by all Iota Kappa Chi members, all of
whom are ardent believers in the brotherly love
premises established by the late Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr.

As a special service to qualified young men who
experienced depredated backgrounds, the IKX or-
ganizers sought to establish a fraternity that would
not serve as a drain on the pocket books of loyal
members. Thus, cultural perfection and peaceful
co-existence are treasures Iota Kappa Chi desires
to cultivate within the heart of Delta State.

Phi Kappa Tau

Phi Kappa Tau, one of the most rapidly
expanding national fraternities in the country since
its founding in 1906, was established as a colony
in 1965 on the Delta State campus. The fraternity
has since strived to instill the qualities of
leadership, honor and school spirit in each of its
members.

Phi Tau's are in the Senate, on the Dean's and
President's list. Who's Who, Omicron Delta
members, DSC band and other honorary fraterni-
ties. Phi Tau's brought a group of orphans to Delta
State campus for homecoming. The social activities
of the Phi Tau's include: Christmas and home-
coming party, swaps,'banquet and the red carnation
ball. Through a purposeful effort the fraternity has
tried to give its membership the ideals of
scholarship and leadership. The Phi Tau's have
assisted in the promotion and achievement of
leadership here at Delta State.

The Zeta Beta Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha has
been most successful in their purpose — to con-
tribute to the education and fraternalism of col-
lege men at Delta State. The outward brotherhood
and friendship are among the chapter's greatest
assets. The "Pikes" had an almost undefeated rec-
ord in the entire athletic program. Many brothers
hold offices in the Student Government Associa-
tion. Such offices are: President, Attorney Gen-
eral, Vice Chairman of Men's Judiciary, and Sen-
ale Representatives. Mr. Delta State College was
also a brother of Zeta Beta Chapter. Social func-

The Gamma Etu chapter of Chi Alpha was officially estahlished on the Delta
State Campus in 1963-1964. Chi Alpha is a ministry to collegians by the As-
semblies of God. It was first organized for students of Pentecostal belief, but now
has begun to minister to students of every faith desiring Christian fellowship.
This religious organization strives to provide students with situations necessary
to the grasping and enlarging of faith so that they may become better acquainted
with the Living Christ.

The Church of Christ Youth Group on the Delta State campus is designed to
promote fellowship among members of the Church of Christ and their friends.
The group meets every Thursday morning in Doolittle Chapel for Bible study.
This class provides an opportunity for discussion of teachings of the Bible as re-
lated to Christians in today's world.

clubs throughout the United Stales and Canada. Circle K is not a social organiza-
tion, but it is a service organization for college men and women operating on
the campus and is similar to Kiwanis and other service clubs.

Circle K is a unique organization. Circle K is an opportunity for college men
because it provides a means of the same type of leadership in a college community
which service clubs are giving in the business and professional world.

The Newman Club, which began in 1893 at the Univer-
sity of Pennsylvania with Cardinal John Henry Newman
as its patron, has changed its name to Newman Federation.
Its primary objective is not that of the social aspect but
rather that of the spiritual and moral standings of Catholi-
cism in the world in which we live. This Federation at-

The purpose of Omicron Delta is fourfold. First, to recognize men who
attained a high standard of leadership in collegiate activities, to en-
courage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive
for similar conspicuous attainment. Secondly, to bring together the
most representative men in all phases of collegiate life, and thus to
create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the
institution on questions of local and intercollegiate interest. Thirdly,
to bring together members of the faculty and student body of Delta

interest capable young men and women in education as a lifelong career, and
