Believing that Secret Societies are calculated to destroy tliu harmony of
College, to Mentis distinctions not founded on merit, to produc; strife and
animosity, we feci called upon to exert ourselves to counteract the evil
tendency of such associations.
We believe- ihut the- evils resulting from them are such as can he sup-

morality may be attained without resorting to the veil of secrecy.

SEC. 5. Any member, who violates the Fledge laid down in the ibttrtli
section of this article, shall he eM pel led lVom tiro Fraternity,
Stic, (i. No mernher shall he suspended or expelled from the Fraternity
except by resolutions, concurred in by throe-fourths of the members of his
Chapter, present at the next regular meeting after th.eir introduction.
Sec. 7. No resolution to suspend or expel a mernher shall be, adopted,

of the Chapter shall give him notice of the resolutions, as soon as possible
alter their introduction.

Sec. 1. AH applications from societies desiring to be admitted into the
Fraternity, shall las forwarded to the President of tin: Fraternity to be sub-
mitted by him to '.he tie.v.t convention, or to the three senior Chapters, as lie
may deem expedient.
Sec. 3, New Chapters may be admitted into the Fraternity by the ununi
nious vote of any convention, or by the concurrence of the throe senior Chap-
ters, subject to the ratification o: the Fraternity at its next convention.
Sec. 3. The President of the Fraternity shall appoint a committee, who
shall proceed to the society to be admitted and administer the Pledge, laid
down in the fourth Section of the second Article of this Constitution, to the
members of the new Chaplos', and establish it in conformity with all the'
provisions of this Constitution ; reporting in writing to each Chapter of the
Fraternity.
Sec. 4. Each Chapter shall inform the several Chapters of the Fraternity
of the decease or honorable- dismission of any of its members.
Sec. 5, A Triennial Catalogue of the Fraternity, containing this Constitu-
tion and the names of a!l members of the Fralcrnii.y, arranged under their
respective Chapters shall be published by the senior Chapter.
