This old cemetery is located across the street
from where the old Testing House stood R,nd opposite the
old horae of the Ln.ne family. Very fev; stones v:ere in
evidence v/hen the following inscriptions were copied
in 1909. It is known however, that the first settler on
Quaker hill, Hathan Birdsall, is Touried here as are
douttless numerous of his descendants. Numbers of stones
v^ere so worn by age and weather that they vrere not read-
able and the place vras being used as a pasture by for-
eigners ?;ho were occupying the old Lane home. The Meet-
ing House of which I have a picture teiken about 1894
had blown dov/n previous to my visit there in 1909

This cemetery is located on the TaToer farm at
the north end of Quaker Kill and borders tjie Connecticut
State line. It has been in the possession of the Taber
family since 1760. Mr, Y/illiam Henry Taber v/hose tv'o
wives are buried here is still living at the age of
eighty-six, owning the place axid expects to be buried
in this cexiieterv and he v/ill be vathout doubt tlie last
one to be burled there. His children do not approve of
it and his third wife, Louise (Frost) Taber is buried
near her parents, grand-parents and grefe,t-grand parBsts
in the cer.ietery at Tovmers, ITew York.

Tl'iis "burial ground is on what used to "be l^novm as
the Caldwell Place, It has "been o^Tned for many years by
William Kenry Taber whose old home place adjoins it and
to the present generation is known as "The Lower Place"
It borders directly on the Connectdcut State Line
erid up in tlie woods southwest of the Viouse are a number
of field stones used as mar5<ers for gra.ves. There is
nothing readable on them but tlie above Ur. Taber who is
now eight- six years of age told r^e whom he remembered
as being buried there rnd t?Le one date given below h.e
had in his diary of some sixty 3/ears ago.

tovm of Sherman, Conn, at the corner of the cross roads
leading from Quaker Hill to Kerwinsvil] e -n6 from Sher-
man to Ilerwlnsville, Conn, are the folIUming stones
surrounded by tall pine trees and invisible to the wa^r.
