dedication
Change and tradition. President Willis Duke
Weatherford, Jr., fits these meaningful words.
As a tradition, he follows the path of presi-
dents who have gone before him. As a change,
he represents a new era at Berea College.
We, the students, dedicate the 1968 CHIMES
to you, Willis Duke Weatherford, Jr.

HOMECOMING
QUEEN
Each year during the festivities
of Homecoming Week, an up-
perclass girl is chosen by her
fellow students to represent the
college as Homecoming Queen.
This year Carolyn McDaniel, of
Waitville, West Virginia, was
given that honor. Here she re-
ceives her crown from President
Weatherford while her escort,
Darrell Rogers, looks on.

DEDICATION
Even though the doors of Foundation will
close for the last time, they will always remain
open in our hearts. Now, before we depart to
go our separate ways, we, the Chimes staff,
dedicate this section of the 1968 Chimes to
our beloved Foundation.
Though this section will never appear in the
Chimes again, the memory will always remain.

4-Square secret of success
When Wm. H. Danforth founded the
Ralston Purina Company before the turn
of the century, these eight words were
already a part of his personal philosophy.
It was only natural, therefore, that they
become "his way of doing business."
Today, these same words, framed by a
now famous trademark, comprise the
"Four-Square" business philosophy of
the leader in the feed industry — The
Ralston Purina Company.
Our philosophy today and for the future
is the same as that of Mr. Danforth on
the day he sold his first bag of feed.
That's why we can look you squarely in
the eye and offer you a
four-square deal . . .
honest products for an
honest price.
We think you will like
our way of doing
business.

Engineers in plants throughout the world specify Vogt equipment to
meet their demand for process equipment on which they can depend.
Vogt products are in service in piping systems, processing, power
generation, waste heat recovery and refrigeration. For information
on all products described below request Bulletin E-4.
HENRY VOGT MACHINE CO., P. O. Box 1918, Louisville, Ky. 40201, Dept. 24A-GCE.
VALVES: Famous Vogt Forged Steel Valves are
performing trouble-free service in a wide range of
applications in hydrocarbon,
oil, hydraulic, gas, steam, wa-
ter, and many other services.
Vogt Gate, Globe, Meter &
Gauge, and Check Valves have
heavy trim parts, deeper stuff-
ing boxes, and special spiral
wound gaskets. All Valves with
13% chrome stainless steel trim have laid-on
hard faced seats (Stellite or equal) for positive
resistance to erosion, corrosion and galling.
These features, in addition to many others,
assure dependable operation and long life.
FITTINGS: Vogt Forged Steel Fittings, Flanges
and Unions complement Vogt Valves for safety
and services regardless of pressure, temperature
or corrosion resistance
requirements. Screwed
fittings have accurately
cut threads for ease
of assembly and dou-
ble tight joints. Socket
weld end fittings have
deep counter bored
sockets for positive alignment without clamping
or tack welding. All fittings are rust proofed
with a phosphate coating, and packaged for
protection, storage and ease of identification.

with pressure and temperature ratings far sur-
passing normal requirements, Vogt produces
heat transfer equipment utilizing the most
modern construction
techniques in building
exchangers, chillers,
crystallizers and film
type evaporators to our
customers' specifica-
tions. Each installation
is engineered to meet
the most rigid operating requirements and to
give long trouble free service.
STEAM GENERATORS: All Vogt Steam Generators,
