of Mr. Nichols 50 copies were ordered to be printed for the use of the
Council.

AN ORDINANCE
TO CAUSE THE REMOVAL OF OBSTRUCTIONS ON THE SIDE-
WALKS, CAUSED BY SNOW OR ICE.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Rox-
bury, as follows :
Section 1. The tenant, occupant, and, in case there
shall be no tenant, the owner or any person having the
care of any building or lot of land bordering on any pub-
lic street, lane, court, square, or public place, within the
city, where there is any raised foot-way or side-walk of a
width not less than five feet, shall, after the ceasing to fall
of any snow, if in the daytime within sis hours, and if in
the night time before 12 o'clock on the day succeeding,
cause the same to be removed.
Sect. 2. All complaints of any violation of the above
section shall be made to the City Marshal, or his Assistants ;
and any person, thus liable, who shall further neglect, for
the space of 12 hours, to remove the snow and ice from
his premises, after having been duly notified to do so by
the City Marshal, or his Assistants, in default thereof, shall
forfeit and pay a sum not less than one dollar, nor more
than three dollars, for each offence.
Sect. 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and go into
operation immediately after its passage.
