Tn  Common  Council,  March  28th,  1859. 

The  Committee  appointed  Feb.  14th,  1859,  to  consider  and  report  in 
relation  to  the  salaries  of  the  several  City  OiScers,  have  attended  to  the 
duty  assigned  them,  and  respectfully  recommend  the  adoption  of  the 
accompanying  order.

CITY      OF     EOXBURT. 

In  Common  Council,  March  28tli;  1869. 

Ordered,  That  the  Salaries  of  the  several  City  Officers, 
for  the  year  beginning  on  the  first  day  of  April,  One  thou- 
sand eight  hundred  and  fifty-nine,  shall  be  as  herein  named, 
to  be  paid  quarterly.  This  order  to  remain  in  force  dur- 
ing the  municipal  year  of  One  thousand  eight  hundred 
and  fifty-nine,  and  until  otherwise  ordered. 

Section  1.  The  salary  of  His  Honor  the  Mayor  shall 
1)0  at  the  rate  of  Tivelve  hundred  dollars  per  annum. 

Sect.  2.  The  salary  of  the  City  Clerk  shall  be  at  the 
rate  of  Tivelve  hundred  dollars  per  annum.  And  the 
fees  received  by  him  in  the  discharge  of  the  duties  of  his 
office,  shall  be  paid  into  the  City  Treasury,  for  the  use  of 
the  City;  and  the  City  Clerk  shall,  in  the  months  of  January 


and  July,  make  out  and  render  to  the  City  Council  a  state- 
ment of  the  amount  of  moneys  received  by  him  as  feeS; 
specifying  from  what  sources  said  fees  are  received. 

Sect.  3.  The  salary  of  the  Clerk  of  the  Common  Coun- 
cil shall  be  at  the  rate  of  Two  hundred  dollars  per  an- 
num. 

Sect.  4.  The  salary  of  the  Treasurer  and  Collector  of 
Taxes  shall  be  at  the  rate  of  Fourteen  hundred  dollars 
per  annum. 

Sect.  5.  The  salary  of  the  City  Messenger  shall  be  at 
the  rate  of  Five  hundred  and  fifty  dollars  per  annum.  In 
full  for  all  services  required  by  ordinance,  except  in  Po- 
lice Courts  and  Ward  Rooms. 

Sect.  6.  The  salary  of  the  Assessors  shall  be  at  the 
rate  of  Two  hundred  and  fifty  dollars  per  annum ;  and 
One  hundred  dollars  per  annum  shall  be  allowed  the 
Board  of  Assessors  for  Clerk  hire. 

The  Assistant  Assessors  shall  receive  at  the  rate  of 
Twenty  dollars  each  per  annum. 

Sect.  7.  The  salary  of  the  City  Solicitor  shall  be  at 
the  rate  of  Eight  hundred  dollars  per  annum. 

Sect.  8.  The  salary  of  the  City  Physician  shall  be  at 
the  rate  of  One  hundred  dollars  per  annum. 

Sect.  9.  The  salary  of  the  City  Marshal  shall  be  at 
the  rate  of  Two  25-100  dollars  per  diem. 

Sect.  10.  The  salary  of  the  Chief  Engineer  shall,  be 
at  the  rate  of  Three  hundred  dollars  per  annum,  and  all 
other  Officers  and  Members  of  the  Fire  Department,  the 
same  as  last  year. 

Sect.  11.  All  other  Officers  in  tlie  pay  of  the  City, 
shall  be  at  the  same  rate  as  established  last  year.
