Ordered,  That  the  Joint  Standing  Committee  on  Finance  be  and 
they  hereby  are  instructed  to  confer  with  the  several  Joint  Standing 
Committees  of  the  City  Council,  relative  to  the  necessary  sums  of 
money  to  be  raised  for  the  expenses  of  the  City  for  the  year  ending  the 
30th  of  April,  1861,  and  report  thereon  the  Annual  Appropriation 
Bill,  as  soon  as  practicable. 

Passed  and  sent  up  for  concurrence.

The  Joint  Standing  Committee  on  Finance,  who  were 
instructed  imder  an  order  originating  in  the  Common  Coun- 
cil, March  26th,  to  confer  with  the  several  Joint  Standing 
Committees  of  the  City  Council,  relative  to  the  necessary 
sums  of  money  to  be  raised  for  the  expenses  of  the  city,  for 
the  fiscal  year  ending  April  30th,  1861,  and  report  the  an-

AN  ORDER,  relating  to    the  SPECIFIC  APPROPRIA- 
TIONS for  the  Financial  Year  of  1860-61. 

It  is  hereby  ordered  by  the  City  Cowicil,  That  to  defray 
the  EXPENDITURES  of  the  City  of  Roxbury  for  the 
Financial  Year,  which  will  commence  with  the  first  day  of 
May,  1860,  and  end  with  the  last  day  of  April,  1861,  the 
following  sums  of  money  be,  and  the  same  are  hereby  re- 
spectively appropriated,  viz. :  —

And  it  is  further  Ordered,  That  no  excess  in  any  of  the 
respective  appropriations  aforesaid,  shall  be  paid  by  the 
Treasurer,  unless  authorized  by  the  City  Council :  Provided, 
however,  that  any  sums  of  money  which  may  be  subscribed 
or  contributed  by  individuals,  to  promote  the  object  of  any 
of  the  foregoing  appropriations,  and  which  form  no  part  of 
the  estimated  income  of  the  city,  shall  be  strictly  applied 
according  to  the  intention  of  the  contributors,  and  shall  be 
credited  to  said  appropriation  accordingly.

In  Common  Council,  April  23.    IsBO. 
AN  ORDER 

Levying  a  TAX  to  defray  the  expenses  of  the  City  of  Rox- 
bury,  for  the  Financial  Year,  which  will  commence  with 
the  first  day  of  May,  1860,  and  end  with  the  last  day  of 
April,  1861. 

Ordered,  That  the  sum  of  ONE  HUNDRED  AND 
NINETY  THOUSAND  TWO  HUNDRED  AND 
EIGHTY-SIX  DOLLARS,  be  raised  by  assessment  on 
the  Polls  and  Estates  of  the  inhabitants  of  this  city,  ac- 
cording to  law,  to  pay  the  current  expenses  of  the  City  of 
Roxbury,  during  the  Financial  Year,  which  will  commence 
with  the  first  day  of  May,  1860,  and  close  with  the  last  day 
of  April,  1861. 

Passed  and  sent  up  for  concurrence.
