In Common Council, February 27tli, 1860. 
The Committee appointed February 13th, 1860, to consider and 
report in relation to the salaries of the several City Officers, have 
attended to the duty assigned them, and respectfully recommend the 
adoption of the accompanying order.

CITY OF ROXBURY. 

In Common Council, Feb. 27th, 1860. 

Ordeeed, That the Salaries of the several City Officers, 
for the year beginning on the first day of April, One thou- 
sand eight hundred and sixty, shall be as herein named, to 
be paid quarterly. This order to remain in force during 
the municipal year of One thousand eight hundred and 
sixty, and until otherwise ordered. 

Section 1. The salary of His Honor the Mayor shall be 
at the rate of Fifteen hundred dollars per annum. 

Sect. 2. The salary of the City Clerk shall be at the 
rate of Twelve hundred dollars per annum. And the fees 
received by him in the discharge of the duties of his office, 
shall be paid into the City Treasury, for the use of the 
City ; and the City Clerk shall, in the months of January 



and July, make out and render to the City Council a 
statement of the amount of moneys received by him as 
fees, specifying from what sources said fees are received. 

Sect. 3. The salary of the Clerk of the Common Coun- 
cil shall be at the rate of Two hundred dollars per an- 
num. 

Sect. 4. The salary of the Treasurer and Collector of 
Taxes shall be at the rate of Fourteen hundred dollars 
per annum. 

Sect. 5. The salary of the City Messenger shall be at 
the rate of Five hundred and fifty dollars per annum. In 
full for all services required by ordinance, except in Police 
Courts and Ward Eooms. 

Sect. 6. The salary of the Assessors shall be at the 
rate of Three hundred dollars per annum ; and One hun- 
dred dollars per annum shall be allowed the Board of 
Assessors for Clerk hire. 

The Assistant Assessors shall receive at the rate of 
Twenty dollars each per annum. 

Sect. 7. The salary of the City Solicitor shall be at the 
rate of Eight hundred dollars per annum. 

Sect. 8. The salary of the City Physician shall be at the 
rate of One hundred dollars per annum. 

Sect. 9. The salary of the City Marshal shall be at the 
rate of Nine hundred dollars per annum. 

Sect. 10. The salary of the Chief Engineer shall be at 
the rate of Three hundred and twenty fi^ve dollars per 
annum. And all other officers and members of the Fire 
Department the same as last year. 

Sect. 11. The salary of the Harbor Master shall be at 
rate of Seventy five dollars per annum. 

Sect. 12. All other Officers in the pay of the City, shall 
be at the same rate as established last year.
