The following records of the Isbell, Kingman, Latimer, and Livermore families have been compiled
for the graiihcation of my children and other near relatives. An effort has been made to have the
Isbell records as full- as could readily be gathered. The Kingman Genealogy has been very fully
wrought by Bradford Kingman, Esq., of Brookline, Mass., and will soon be published, so that his rights
were in the way of making that complete, while the completion of the Latimer and Livermore records
involved too much labor.
For this compilation thanks are due to Dr. D. Williams Patterson, of Newark Valley, N. Y., and
to Oliver Osborne, Esq., of Lenox, Mass., who has furnished the whole records of Noah Isbell (No. 15)
and his descendants from the time of their advent to Lenox.

THE ISBELL FAMILY.
ROBERT ISBELL [i] was of New London, Conn., where he had a
grant of land from the townsmen, 19 Oct., 1650; and Miss Caulkins in
"History of New London," p 67, says that he was from Gloucester,
Mass. At a later date he seems to have lived in the north part of the
town, in what is now Ledyard. He died about 1655, leaving a widow,
Ann Isbell, who married (2d) with William NichoUs. Miss Caulkins
thinks he was the same man, who, as Robert Isabell, had land granted
to him at Salem, Mass., in 1637. (See "History of New London," p.
272.) Widow Ann NichoUs died at New London, 15 Sept., 1689.
Children of Robert [i] and Ann Isbell.

1668, with Elizabeth French, and settled at Killingworth, Conn., where
he died 2 Sept., 1677, having made his will 27 Aug., 1677. There is
evideflce that he was at Killingworth as early as 1665.
II. HANNAH ISBELL [2] married at New London, Conn., 6 Aug.,
1668, with Thomas Stedman, of New London, and, after his death, with
John Fox, of New London, as his second wife.

(See the Redfield Genealogy, p. 20.) His will, dated 1794, was proved

gational Church at Lenox, in 1799; was chosen deacon, in 1808; and
resigned the office, in 1829. He was a farmer and lumberman, owning
and working the homestead of his father, while his mountain land
furnished the timber whiqh he worked up in his sawmill on the East
Street, a mile north of his farm. He was a tall, energetic, hard-
working man, with his face deeply pitted with small-pox, which made
a strong impression upon his young hearers when convulsed with
emotion, in his religious zeal, as one who well remembers him,
describes his appearance, as he stood in the winter noon-time prayer
meetings at the "Church on the Hill," with his hands clasped, the
tears trickling ' down his rugged cheeks, and prayed that "strength
and will might be given to all to beat down the strongholds of Satan,
and to build up the walls of Zion." He was a good man, whose
memory is still cherished in Lenox, where he and his wife died; she,
3 March, 1834; he, 7" March, 1839.
