Subject: LDS Defense Propaganda
Subject: LDS Defense Propaganda
Early example of LDS attempt to outrun their history and deny the Spaulding manuscript connection to the Book of Mormon.
Since LDS has a sorted past, the efforts of their Public Affairs Office has been monumental. Something as basic as the first vision of Joseph Smith, must have its own experts to control the narrative. According to Peter Ingersol, Smith’s long-time childhood friend, Smith’s “First Vision” was that of a bloody Spaniard protecting buried treasure. During the years Smith was employing his occult practice of divination by way of his magic rock (the same rock he used to pretend translate the pretended golden plates). Remember that for decades, the LDS PR machine denied that Smith used a rock to translate the Book of Mormon, they called this “Anti-Mormon” lies and deception. Today, the same PR machine confirmed that this was indeed the practice used for the translation. Seems like the historic record has caught up with the propaganda campaign. It will be curious to see how they sort out the six different first vision accounts. I’m sure something so basic will be a demand on the attention of the LDS spin machine.
LDS actively seeks to supress records of a historic nature. In the 1980’s the LDS church was involved in a massive and deadly attempt to suppress forged documents they thought were authentic due to their folk magic content. Remember that this was before the time of the computer infomation super highway. Today, the avalanch of LDS history has the PR effort buried.
The necessity for shifting the historic narrative is because of the sand foundation LDS is built upon. Early deceptions have matured into grand embarrassments, such as the Book of Abraham. When Smith pretended to translate Egyptian papyrus, the Rosetta Stone had not yet saturated common knowledge, so he was safe from discovery.
Violence was also a big part of LDS history. Brigham Young ordered the slaughter of his enemies as well as inocent travelers through Utah territory if there was any question regarding their intentions. LDS apologist will lament the Executive order that called for their extermination yet they never say why this was necessary. The LDS reputedly practiced all sorts of criminal activity including murder, rape, arson, theft, bank fraud, counterfeiting, and the like, all in the name of their god.
As black people were considered “dirty, lazy and loathsome” to the LDS people, they were not able to become full members of the church. In fact, the doctrine of LDS says that black people can become white if they stop sinning - then they can be made “white and delightsome.” How do they handle this horrible doctrine today? They deny, deny, deny. Some LDS apologist will declare that they were anti-slavery yet this was purely for political convenience.
The Kinderhook Plates were yet another hoax that Joseph Smith started translating (even if not claiming the translation was from God) he concluded: "I have translated a portion of them, and find they contain the history of the person with whom they were found. He was a descendant of Ham, through the loins of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and that he received his kingdom from the Ruler of heaven and earth."
Further, Joseph Smith claimed that the second coming was imminent, and if he had lived until 1890 it would have happened. Of course that gives an out to it being a 100% "failed prophecy" because he died prior to 1890, but every generation since has been told by church leaders they are the chosen generation. Among the failed prophecies of Joseph Smith's time: That a temple would be built in Missouri during his time: Therefore, as I said concerning the sons of Moses for the sons of Moses and also the sons of Aaron shall offer an acceptable offering and sacrifice in the house of the Lord, which house shall be built unto the Lord in this generation, upon the consecrated spot as I have appointed (D&C 84:31).
Again - as with so many other issues above, why is there nothing that we can point to and know that the Book of Mormon happened as stated, or that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Most of the talk of prophecies being fulfilled today are in relation to the church buying land to build a temple, which is pretty easy to fulfill if you have enough money to buy land. Why would God create His one true church and then make Joseph Smith look like a false prophet through failed prophecies and scriptures that can not stand up to history? Why MUST Mormons be required to bare testimony to Joe and the LDS church, even if they have trouble with it?
These few examples of Smith’s occult practices, deception and abuse of women, are such that LDS leadership spends most of its time and resourses cleaning up after. The records from the Mormon Church, now online, are the very sourses of consternation within the LDS rank and file. LDS practitioners are now asking why the church has decieved them for so long and on such contrivercial topics.
Today, Mormons, especially in Utah, make up the largest consumers of on line pornography, consumtion of psychotropic prescription drugs, suicids and suicide attempts, domestic assaults, and child abuse. Yet, LDS distances itself from the very fruits of their faith.
