DIRECTORY OF LABOR ORGANIZATIONS

IN MONTANA

The Directory of Labor Organizations in Montana is compiled
every two years by the Employment Security Commission, Helena,
Montana.

The demand for this directory has increased over the years.
Distribution is made as a public service to principal officers of state,
district and local labor unions, employer organizations, libraries,
research centers, public officials, and on request to any interested
individuals as long as the supply lasts.

Every human effort is made to provide a complete and accurate
listing. Because of the nature of the project and the human factors
involved, some changes may have occurred even before the directory
is in print.

The cooperation and help of union officials and their members
in providing the information for this directory is gratefully acknowl-
edged.

MR. LABOR UNION OFFICIAL . . .

The Employment Service Division of the Montana Employment
Security Commission and its network of twenty-three local employ-
ment offices have a close liason with all the working people of the
state.

All the personnel of the Employment Security Commission have
the common interest of providing a double-barreled assistance pro-
gram in the manpower field. First, through the facilities of our local
employment offices, we are helping to place workers in jobs to
which they can best adapt their skills and experience. We are
giving aptitude tests to discover latent abilities to help workers
develop new skills. With data gathered on current and future labor
demand, we are directing people to occupations where employment
opportunities exist and may reasonably be expected to exist in the
years to come. We are advising them on existing vocational train-
ing programs and putting them in touch with appropriate agencies.
Second, the worker today who is unemployed, through no fault of
his own, knows that he can depend on unemployment insurance
to tide him and his family over the rough spots while he looks for
other work.

The joint employment service-unem.ployment insurance action,
designated to help the disfranchised worker regain his place in the
labor force, will adapt and change with the times to improve the
economic, social, and mental well being of all workers in the state.
