In the words of an anonymous author:

"If is time and this Is my simple message for
you today. If there's something special you
want to do, now is that time if you want
to mcke a difference in the world now is
that timel Don't be fooled into thinking you
should wait until you are older or wiser or
more secure-because it doesnt work that

Now in my words: Thns is our starting point

for the rest of our lives. We've already

made it to the tracks, now let's get to the

finish line!

Congratulations

Feed Me Seymour.... Uhhh I mean Bedell and Checkers. ...Well Where Ever!

As College Students, one

of the main things we
like, ....scratch that,
LOVE to do is GET OUR EAT
ON! ! !

Thenks to the new hours at

Bedell Hall, we can eat

earlier or later, if we

choose ! ! ! And now with a

fast food place on campus,

CHECKERS, the energy used

to go across town to
Mickey D ' s or Burger King
can be used to walk right
across campus.

Of course with the kitchen

set up available in Viking

Village, having a feast

with your friends only

requires grocery money! ! !

There are the special

events like tailgating,

banquets, meetings where

food is provided by Alumni

or friends of the

University! ! !

If all else fails, you

still have McDonald's,

Burger King, Wendy's,

Hardees, Dairy Queen,

Sonic, Taco Bell, whew let

me take a breather. . . .

Pizza Hut, 3 Amigos,

Golden Corral, Prime

Sirlon, Jacoli ' s Soul

Food, Applebee's, and

Campus Favorite

Ruby Tuesdays ! ! !

One thing parents of ECSU

Students will never have

to worry about their

children

STRAVING! ! !

GET YOUR EAT ON VIKINGS ! !

l^Mm® MwM:

One of the first questions you ask a

student is where "Wfiere Do You

Stay?"

Well no matter whether you stay in the

newly built University Suites, campus

favorite, apartment styled Viking

Village, the Complex, recently

remodeled Mitchell-Lewis (a.k.a. The

Lew) or V/omack (a.k.a. The Mock),

another fav among students Butler hiall.

Bias or the Tower (b.k.a. New Res,

upper classmen will remember that!), or

even off campus Herrington Village,

Southgote, Summerfield, hlollowell

Drive, etc)!! V^e eat, chill out with our

friends and "boo"s, sleep, play XBOX

and PS2, party, and of course STLDYII!

We all have to have a place to call

our own, even if its only for one

semester!

Living on campus or at least being

away from home (out of Mama and

Daddy's hHouse, that is) is an experience

ke no other!!

Are you guys really

studying?? Hmm... I

wonder.

Since its opening in the Fall of 2005 and

officially in Sprint of 2006, the New
Student Center has served many, many
purposes on this campus.

From housing the Student fictivities and

SCA Complex upstairs, to movies
sfiowin^s and presentations siiven in ttie
theater, to Crown & Sexy NiBhts in the

multipurpose room, to the Bookstore

selling lab and otfier te?ctbooks and ECSU

parapfienalia, to Step Stiow and Fashion

Show Practices, to the Ions lines to set

that refund cfieck, to somewhere for Piano

Players (and Quite a few wannabes) to
showcase tfieir talent, to a place to check
facebook.com and my space, to meetings,
bamuets, and a Place to feed your face.

The uses of the facility and the number of
feet crossing its tt}reshold each day is
endless.

It is apparent tfie New Student Center in

the Ridley Student Complex will be a

Place for students to study, watch BET,

hanB out, just chill, meet, Breet and eat for

many

What is an Alpha Kappa Alpha Woman?

Alpha Kappa Alpha Mystique

Beauty unparalleled, grace undefined,

An Alpha Kappa Alpha Woman is one of a kind.

She walks in a room with her head held high.

Acknowledgement of her presences is an awe-filled

gaze, or admiring sigh.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Woman is regal and

profound.
She is the essence of feminism and these qualities

abound.
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Woman is honorable and

oh so unique.

All of these qualities culminated.

Created the Alpha Kappa Alpha Mystique.

The Heart of A Sigma Man

The heart of a Sigma is cunning, bold, loving, and true.

Not red, pink, or green but the extravagant ROYAL BLUE.

It's as beautiful as the sky on a clear summer night.

The cresent moon and stars; the coalition of BLUE and

WHITE.

The heart of Sigma is challenged daily and is often

misunderstood.

But still won't be denied the title of the Epitome of Finer

Womenhood.

Our bond is inexplicable, there is none greater.

The heart of a Sigma is none other than a ZETA.

An Ideal Sigma

A young lady who has a lot to offer,

No vulgarity or boastfulness is a part of her.

And who is willing to lend a hand

For Sigma, she'll always stand.

Sympathy is a part of her for the poor.

Never a stray she turns from her door.

To her, the love of God is a must

And in all she places her trust.

Sigma's Hymn she will sing with all her might

So that from its radiance others will see the light.

The pin, she will wear with a great deal of respect

But she's a Sigma-what can we expect?

2006 Fall Distinguished Lecture Series

On October 19. 2006, the Center of Excellence in

As collaborators. The Center of Excellence in
Remote Sensing Education with Dr. Linda Hayden
as ECSU lead, along with The NSF Center for
Remote Sensing of lee Sheets with Dr. Prasad

Gogineni of The University of Kansas, and The University of Indiana led by Dr. Geoffry Fox have taken several steps

to develop a Polar Science computer networking GRID. The collaboration has important hardware and software

challenges that will ad\ance Cyberinfrastructure research and enable new science discoveries. This project and

several others proposed will bring ECSU to a strong leadership
