INTRODUCTION.
You have, doubtless, often beard it remarked that the really good produc-
tions of Japan seldom find their way into the retail stores of America. This
particularly applies to Hand Made Embroidery and the reason is not far to seek.
Between the time the finished article leaves the workman's hands in Japan
and the time it reaches the Retail Store in America it has to pass, in the usual course
of business, through the hands of many middlemen. Each separate handling means,
of course, an additional charge to the cost so that by the time it reaches the retailer
the price of the article is enormously increased and it consequently has to be sold at
a figure which, relative to the original cost, is exorbitant.
To eliminate those intermediate profits of the middlemen by putting within
your reach the really good and desirable work of tins country at a minimum cost
is the object of this booklet. Since all the work we furnish is made by our own
embroiderers vou cannot eliminate any further profits and as the profits we charge
are based on no credits : consequently no losses, no bookkeeping and low expenses
vou will readily see that vou have reached the fountain head oi supply and cannot
reasonably expect to pay less.
The few illustrations we show are but suggestions of the work we are
prepared to undertake. We are equipped to execute orders for SliVifliilg of the
nature of Hand Made Embroidery a"d will do the work so well and cheaply as to
astonish you. Our embroiderers are all skilled workers and are under the
Supervision Of American experts which ensures your order getting intelligent atten-
tion. We are prepared to undertake anything from ordinary embroidery to the
very finest work and it will take but a trial order to convince you that what we
claim is no idle boast.

Each Waist Pattern contains sufficient material to make Waist in any style for any size person. The pattern
comprises embroidery on front with a piece each for the collar and two cuffs, as shown in the illustrations.
The material of which we make up these patterns is the best of its kind. Where we quote on more than one
Quality the difference is in fineness or sbeerness.
Embroidery is graded according to the value of the material to which it is applied. The "poorest" embroi-
dery we apply to anything is good, while on the more expensive material it is of a very high class.

Each Waist Pattern contains sufficient material to make Waist in any style /'or any size person. The
pattern comprises embroidery and Hand Made Lace as shown by the illustrations.
Waists are in no instance made up. We supply material, embroidery and lace sufficient to make the
pattern up in the style shown, but where they are shown made up it is merely for convenience in
illustrating.
'Jhe material of which we make up these patterns is the best of its kind. Where we quote on more than
one quality the difference is in fineness or sheerness.
Embroidery is graded according to the value of the material to which it is applied. The "poorest"
embroidery we apply to anything is good while on the more expensive material it is of very
high class,
le Lace furnished is all Handmade Irish Crochet.
Where blanks occur in the quotations it indicates that those particular designs cannot be
made in that particular material.

HAND EMBROIDERED SILK KIMONOS AND DRESSING JACKETS .
In the United States these have become, of late years, so rmieh of a necessity as a Negligee Garment that they
require no recommendation.
Our Kimonos are all made to give practical service and instead of being, as Kimonos so often are, an article to
admire but of little use for wear, what we offer <s a happy combination of utility and beauty.
CONSTRUCTION. Each garment as well as having an inside lining of sill: is also made with a heavy
cotton interlining which gives body to the Kimono as well as enhances its wearing properties. The silk we use, both
outside and lining, is of extra good quality. In no instance do we put inferior or second grade silk into the construc-
tion of our garments.
EMBROIDERY On the lowest priced garments the embroidery is of a good grade while to the higher
priced ones we apply work that is, in every sense ot the term, extra good.
COLOR. We can furnish any color you wish and if you send sample of the shade wanted will match it
exactly. The colors most in demand are : White, Light Blue, Pink, Lavender, Old Rose. Copenhagen, Nile Green, Navy,
Red, Gray and Black. The embroidery can be applied in any desired color. If you have no decided preference, leave it
to us. Long experience has taught us the combinations which show up to best advantage.
SHADED KIMONOS are dyed from a light color at the top, gradually shading down to deeper and darker
color at the bottom. Thus, a Kimono which is Light Pink at the top shades down to Deep Rose at the bottom ; or a
Light Blue at top becomes a Dark Blue or Copenhagen at bottom.

COTTON CRAPE AND SILK CRAPE BOUDOIR OR COMBING JACKETS.
Beside being beautifully dainty these are also eminently useful. On the higher grade materials
the embroidery is very fine. The Jackets are made up as shown in the illustrations— with scalloped
edges all the way round.

COTTON CRAPE KIMONOS AND DRESSING JACKETS .
Japanese Cotton Crape has, by virtue of its excellent wearing and washing qualities, become so popular in
the United States of late years that the looms of this country are taxed to their utmost to meet the demand. This fabric
is entirely made by hand; the crepy effect being obtained by hand-twisting each thread. Successive washings only
tend to increase the crepy effect— the more the material is washed the crepier it becomes.
We furnish Cotton Crape in three grades, as follows : —
Wo. 1 GRADE is of finely 'woven, beautiful appearing texture in mercerised thread. Though it
has a delicate, silky appearance it nevertheless is tough in tensile strength and gives ex-
cellent wear.
No. 2 GRADE is a slightly heavier appearing texture than No. 1 but has also a fine soft finish with
splendid wearing qualities.
No. 3 GRADE is heavier and stronger looking than the No. 1 and 2 and wears so well that it is
popularly described as " wearing like iron."
Any of the above grades can be furnished in any of the following colors :
WHITE, LIGHT BLUE, CADET BLUE, PINK, OLD ROSE, LAVENDER AND GREEN.
The embroidery on these, as on everything else we offer, is entirely hand made.

If it were more generally known how exquisitely beautiful the really good in Japanese
Embroidery can be it would cause no surprise to learn that it is becoming an ever-increasing vogue
for American Brides to have their Wedding Gowns embroidered by hand in Japan.
The looms of this country produce a beautiful Satin Crape which is ideally suited to the require-
ments of a Wedding Robe. Beside being of lovely texture it has just that rich lustre and satin sheen
which stamps the Wedding Gown as being the realisation of ones heart's desire.
To this material we can apply any design of embroidery you may wish. We can furnish the Robes
in any of the three designs shown on the opposite page or we can apply any design of embroidery you may
send us. Should none of the designs shown suit you or if you have no ideas you wish carried out we
shall be glad to prepare further designs in accordance with any suggestions you may send. Unfortunately,
our artists, in illustrating, cannot do justice to the excellence of the work we are producing, but you take
no chances in ordering — the embroidery is the richest, and at; the same time daintiest, work you
can imagine.
The Gowns are, of course, not made up. We furnish sufficient material to make them with trains
and the embroidery is applied so that it can be used as shown in the illustrations.
