Dedication

THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1963, WITH THANKS AND GRATITUDE,

DEDICATES THIS FALCON TO THE BUSINESS MANAGER,

J. MILLS HOLLOW AY

Mr. Holloway and Family

In dedicating this year's Falcon, the Senior Class
of 1963 feels this is more than a trivial honor or
courtesy. It is a dedication of our thanks and grati-
tude to a very dedicated and understanding friend.

To you Mr. Holloway, we bestow this yearbook
because you have helped to build a bigger and bet-
ter St. Augustine's College by giving your time,
assistance and guidance to the young men and
women attending this institution. Your genuine
interest and enthusiasm have been an inspiration
and incentive to greater accomplishments.

So with gratitude and thanks, we dedicate the
1963 edition of the Falcon to Mr. J. Mills Holloway,

A Message from the President

Office of thb President

January 9, 1963

Dear Senior Classi

Please accept my sincere congratijlations as yoj leave the
hallowed halls of Saint Augustine's College and embark upon
the adult phase of your voyage through life.

For the past four years the entire personnel at this institution
has striven to train you for the great challenges and opportunities
awaiting you in a society that is undergoing revolutionary changes.

Remember that today's world is one great country. New nations
are being born and are seeking their place in th;^ sun of a new
day. Persistent demands for equality in all areas of endeavor
and association are being pressed everywhere. Respect for human
dignity is gradually becoiiing the order of the day. The dssire
for peace is dramatically taking precedence over the urgings for
war because the atomic age has convinced most of mankind that war
today would be t an"':a:Tioun t to universal suicide.

As you build your future upon the solid foundation of the education
that you received in this Church-related college, remember that the
Almighty has made yju Stei'^'ard over new and greater resources f jr
assisting the young men and young wom^m who wish to follow in your
foots teps .

May the talents entrusted to your stewardship prove helpful and
fruitful in His sight and to you, to those who would follow you,
and to your Alma M3t?r.

Very truly yours,

A Message from the Dean

Prezell R. Robinson

I wish to commend you for the efforts that you have put forth during the past four years to bring you
to the successful conclusion of your formal undergraduate career. Many started with you who are not with
you now. The reasons for their absence are varied and sundry. Nevertheless, it can be said that you held
steadfast to your course; you fought the good fight, and are able to reap the rewards of your battle.

In these days of many pressures from without and within, a great deal is required of the individual to
hold him to a line of personal progress and growth until he has acquired a formal education, which is con-
sidered today basic to the society in which we live.

As you join the legions who have left the hallowed halls of this institution since 1868, it is my sincere
hope that you will have a life-time succession of worthy challenges, and in each case the health of body, the
strength of moral character, and the personal courage to meet them effectively.

This organization is one of the most active forces on our campus. At present they are engaged in nu-
merous sit-in demonstrations and protests against segregation and discrimination of the minority races. To
them we owe gratitude and thanks for the jobs they've accomplished and those still being fought everyday.

It is through young adults such as these, that we can obtain our economical and social freedom and
acceptance.
