Subject: The author became more confused as time moved on, but there are other choices
The Problem with Delitzsch is that as time progressed he rather went off the deep end. Given the propaganda he was subjected to in his day within the German university system and its attacks on Christianity, its a wonder he lasted as long as he did. He had a great deal of problems accepting the accuracy of the Biblical text because he could not find the answers. He was about 50 years too soon. He never appears to have understood even the basic message of Christ, even though he was a translator of the N.T. The answers did arrive in overwhelming amount. But Delitzsch had already been steeped in the falsehoods of textual criticism for far too long. The result is reflected in his text, which is gradually more and more unstable. A much more accurate New Testament version in Hebrew is still the work of Ginsburg, here for example . or here for Old Testament . who remains one of the leading authorities both on Textual Criticism and on the accuracy of the manuscritps used for the collation of the Old Testament.
