DANGING AT IaUGHNASA

Dancing as if language no longer existed because words were no
longer necessary " - Dancing at Lughnasa

22

The 2004 fall production Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel
depicts two days in the lives of the Mundy sisters in harvest time,
1936, Ireland. The fall show features the talents of junior and senior
theatre performance majors and provides them with the opportunity
to practice their craft in an intense setting. The cast rehearses every
night, four hours a night, for three weeks under the direction of Dr. W.
Doug Powers. "The students involved worked together for so long
that at the end of the rehearsal period we were a family. Working with
such great people on a show as beautiful as this is an experience at SU
I will never forget."

-Erica Lopatofsky 05

Robert Thompson as Michael, the
story's narrator.

The Mundy sisters:
Erica Lopatofsky, Katie
Mull, Marie Graf, Kelly
Jean Graham, Amanda

"You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either
game — life or football — the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half
a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second
too slow, too fast and you don't quite catcfi.it. Tfie incfies we need are
everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute,
every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear
ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw
with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all
tftose incfies, tftat's gonna make the difference between winning and
losing! Between Civina and dying!"

I love cheering here at SU because great
friendships are made each year on the
squad. We have so much fun at the games.
The years of experience ready help the team
work wed together. There is always
something new to learn, which makes each
of us continually improve ourselves,

"Tfiis season was another big step in the right direction as
far as creating a winning tradition here at SU. The men
had an awesome year, barely missing the playoffs in the
competitive Commonwealth Conference. The seniors
especially showed their commitment and their loyalty to
the program during their time here at SU. The men's
soccer team will be ready to go even further in 2005."

"Togetherness is a key ingredient
for a college rugby team to
beeome champions. The entire

beeome one functional unit. The

"I think it really makes a
statement about the University,
that students can produce a

"...Reflect on your experiences and accomplishments.

Remember the dedication, the pain, the jubilation, the

oar in your hand, the swing, the perfect catch, the

But most importantly, never forget that the glory is

the glory is always in the team.

able to post more scores this season than we had
previously and we are looking to travel more next
season as well as work to lower our scores. This

'The Class of 2005 has left an enormous
mark on the institution and their legacy
is large. Yet the legacy that excites me
most is thinking about their collective
gifts serving the larger world in the
years ahead. The promise of great
achievement, distinguished leadership,
and heartfelt service is tremendous. You
will realize the hope of Susquehanna's
founders that the graduates of this
institution will dedicate themselves to
^naking the world a better place."

Shawn ,

Congratulations! It has been awesome watching you grow from a
child to the mature young man you are today. Throughout the years,
you have amazed us with your varied talents from the soccer field to
singing to trumpet and the stage, we have consistently marveled at all
you attempted and all that you have accomplished.

The friendships you have made during your years at Susquehanna are
ones that you will always cherish. Your memories of the University

Choir, your trips to Costa Rica
and Nicaragua and your various
roles on stage have broadened your
horizons.

Your faith in yourself and your
faith in God has brought you to
this point in life. Our prayer is
that you will realize your dreams.
Know that we will always be there
for you.

"Youth is not entirely a
time of life, it is a state of
mind. Nobody grows old
by merely living a number

by deserting their ideals.
You are as young as your

It was just yesterday that you were playing little league baseball and attending dance

school.

It was just yesterday that you were teaching your brother the alphabet and being the

big sister.

It was just yesterday that you learned to ride a bicycle.

It was just yesterday that you became a teenager.

It was just yesterday that you graduated from high school and decided to go on to
college to pursue a teaching degree.

Today, you have become a warm, compassionate and remarkable woman, who is

achieving her goals.

Today, you have taken on and accomplished all your dreams.

Tomorrow, you will spread your infectious smile and wisdom to your future students.

Tomorrow, you will share all of your yesterdays and todays with the one you love.

May life hold for you all the possibilities for a bright, successful, and fulfilling future.

Words cannot describe the incredible feeling of pride and joy that we feel as parents. Your

continued dedication and hard work has made you shine. You can always count on us for support

Charlotte,

You realized very early that life is not a dress rehearsal. With hard work,
determination, curiosity, a sense of adventure and passion you managed
to shine like a star. You continue to set new goals, challenge yourself
and never give up. You love and live life with all your heart, and you are
looked upon with pride and wonder. What an outstanding young
woman you have become. In the past four years you made dreams
come true with great memories for keeping. The places you've been and
yet to go, and the people who's hearts you have touched is just the
beginning. The future is now yours to do what you will.
Life is a song... sing it
Life is a game. ..play it.
Life is a challenge... meet it
Life is a dream. ..realize it.
Life is a sacrifice. . .offer it
Life is love. ..enjoy it.

Charlotte Thank You for helping make our dream for you come true.
Now it is our turn to cheer for you. We are your parents and we couldn't

Robert Louis Stevenson once described

"success" in the following manner:

That person is a success who has lived well,

laughed often, and loved much; who has

gained the respect of intelligent men and the ,

love of children; who
left the world a
better place than he
found it - whether
| by an improved
flower, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never
lacked appreciation for earth's beauty or failed to
express it; who looked for the best in others and gave
the best he had. In that respect, we wish you success.

Many people will walk in and out of your life,

but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To  handle  yourself,  use  your  head;

To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If  someone  betrays  once,  it  is  his  fault;

If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

Great  minds  discuss  ideas;

Average  minds  discuss  events;

Small minds discuss people.

He who loses money, loses much:

He  who  loses  a  friend,  loses  much  more;

He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,

but beautiful old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others.

Remember the bridges you have crossed and the

mountains you have climbed. You are heading

into another trail of your life. Some trails may

end and you know what to do, you always have,

just make your own, until you get to the top.

Reference: North of Carrara, some mountain with

Dave, that other guy and us.

We are very proud of the woman you are.

Michael,

You know your life is fantastic, when you look back and your
memories -

- make you laugh more then cry (unless you cry from
laughing so hard),

- put such an uncontrollable grin on your face, others think
you must be crazy,

- lift your spirits and make you feel so truly blessed, that
having a bad day becomes a rare occurance,

-give you and overwhelming sense of peace and
accomplishment, and

-remind you that God was. ..and is. ..always with you.

Your life is fantastic Michael! Always savor the memories
you've made, and enjoy making many more as you continue to

We hope you enjoy looking through
this yearbook as much as we 've enjoyed
putting it together.

We wish the class of 2005 the best of luck wherever life may take
you. Keep the memories of your times at Susquehanna close, but
remember not to look back for too long, Instead look to the future!

- Joanna and Sarah

"Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime. We '11 take the best
and forget the rest, and someday we'll find these were the best

of times. -Styx

We laughed until we had to cry, we loved right

down to our last goodbye, and over the years we '11

smile and recall, for Just one moment, we

had It all. - St. Elmo 's Fire
