Born in Frankfurt am Main on December 8, 1891, Leopold Schwarzschild was a journalist, economist, and editor of Das Tagebuch, 1923-1933. He emigrated to France in 1933, where he played an active role in emigré politics, editing Das Neue Tagebuch, 1933-1939. Schwarzschild emigrated to the United States in 1940 and died in Santa Margherita, Italy, on October 2, 1950
