HELEN ANDERSON

Associate Editor

Because we appreciate her for the sterling qual-
ities she has exhibited as a guiding influence
for the youth of our college

Because she has worked diligently and untir-
ingly toward the advancement of educational
opportunities

Because she has understood our problems,
helped us with patience, listened to our com-
plaints with an unfailing smile, inspired us with
confidence, encouraged us when we were dis-
heartened, and enhanced our chances for suc-
cess

We proudly dedicate this, our 1955 Lion, to
our sponsor

Although this is the first year that Mr. Harbour has served
in the capacity as President of the East Mississippi Junior
College, already gratifying changes in the campus and
the curriculum are evident.

We, the students, appreciate his vision for an enlarged
and greater B.M.J. C. and his unflagging efforts in mak-
ing that vision a reality.

He has won the respect of the students for his unlimited
enthusiasm, for his integrity of purpose, and for his sin-
cere personal interest in the welfare of each student.

We are glad to dedicate this page to our President— the
man who in one year has made so many of our dreams
come true.

Dr. Annette P. Crickard
East Mississippi Jr. College
Scooba, Mississippi

Dear Doctor Crickard:

In judging the lovely photographs of the students, we
found it difficult to make a selection as they all
have individual charm.

However, since you request that we make a choice, Lucy
and I have mutually agreed on Barbara Wood and Curry
Palmer for their appearance and personality.

We are returning the photographs and an autographed
photograph for Barbara and Curry, and best wishes to
all.

Thank you for the honor of judging your contest.

Sincerely,

DA:vo

THOMAS SCARBROUGH
Tom is a freshman music major from
Calhoun City. Besides doing an ex-
cellent job of leading the band, Tom
is in the glee club, plays a fine trum-
pet, and has taken an active part in
dramatics.

Head Majorette

MARLENE DAVIS
Marlene is an attractive and popular
junior from Scooba. Having served
two years in the drill squad, Marlene
stepped into the job of band major-
ette. She did an excellent job and
we hope to see her back next year.

MR. GENE CRAGO, our new band di-
rector, has greatly improved our music
department. Besides having organized
several musical groups, he has made
our band an excellent marching and
concert band.

The members have worked diligently,
and E.AA.J.C. is proud of them and Mr.
Crago.

Listen, my children, and you shall hear

Of the way we've spent our time this year

On  a   wonderful  yearbook  that  is  for  you;

We hope you'll like it as much as we do.

We've worked and slaved to make it the best

And now that it's finished . . . we hope we can rest!
