EVE^'li^G TRANSCRIPT.

SATURDAY EVENING. APRIL 30.

The Tax Pavers. We are indebted to Mr
Eastburn for a copy of the "List of persons
copartnerships, and corporations, who were tax-
ed twenty-five dollars and upwards, in the City
of Boston in the year 1838." As the Assessors
have not appended to the list any abstract state-
ment, it cost us some time and labor to get at the
following results— which are in many regards in-
teresting as exhibiting the relative proportion of
individual wealth.

The list contains the names of about 2,900 per-
sons, corporations, &c. The number of those
who paid over $100 was 804.

Over $100 and under $200 was 385

We probably have made some errors, as we
went over the list hastily and but once, but we

min Buzzy, C. R. Codraan, Nathaniel Goddard,
