A Christian College must be designed to serve
its generation. Since a Christian College may have
a history of several decades, it may be expected that
changes will be necessary in organization and method
in order to minister effectively under new situations.
The past history of London College of Bible and
Missions demonstrates this process of development
from its feeble beginnings about 35 years ago. Men
of vision who had responsibility for the College en-
deavoured to strengthen the programs of Christian
vocational training so that committed young people
should have a good preparation for ministry. During
the past years of development the College has not
changed its adherence to the great doctrines of the
faith contained in its Statement of Faith and Prac-
tice, Organization and method may change, but our
message must remain constant since we are under a
divine commission to declare the Gospel of Christ.

The world of today is far different from the world
of the 1930's, The challenge facing the Christian
College today demands careful consideration of the
best way to prepare young people to meet the opp-
ortunities of this day. For several years prior to 1968
numerous talks were held between representatives
from Toronto Bible College and London College of
Bible and Missions, considering the advisability of
the merging of the two Colleges for reasons not
difficult to discover. The two Colleges have had
similar academic programs, and looked to the same
general constituency for support and students.
However, God has His own time for the realization
of His purposes. Earlier discussions did not produce
any concrete results, but early in 1968 official talks
taking place seemed to indicate that God's time was
at hand. To face the challenge of a new generation
and age, the consolidation of our resources and work
seemed to be the will of God. A combined college
with increased financial and academic strength was
needed to face the demands of the immediate decades.

The decision to merge, and to establish the new
College on the Toronto campus was a difficult dec-
ision for the London College family to make. The
familiar landmarks and buildings which became so
much a part of the life of students, staff, and faculty
were to be sold in order to consummate the merger.

However, a college is far more than merely
buildings and land. A college actually is involved
with the intangible things of vision, purposes,
fellowship, and shared responsibilities. These were
elements that were not bound to buildings and land.
These elements could become a part of the new
College. From the perspective of the London College
family it has been most gratifying that most of the
faculty, staff, and student body have come a part
of the new College. Although the campus and build-
ings have gone, the vital part of the London College
spirit has been merged into the fuller stream of
Ontario Bible College. That which men of vision
prayed for and worked for still goes on in a channel
of wider opportunities.

Our experience in Ontario Bible College has in-
deed been an experience of unity in Christ. The
faculty members from both Colleges have
complemented each other in very remarkable ways,
and our fellowship together has been rich and re-
warding. The staff members from London have found
areas of ministry in which they may serve together
with those from Toronto. Students from both Colleges
have been enjoying fellowship together in the ex-
perience of college life, A spirit of enthusiasm and
excitement has characterized these past weeks, and
we look forward expectantly to the good things that
God has in store for us. Names long associated with
our London campus have now been transferred to
buildings on the new campus - Mahood Hall,
Harris Memorial Conservatory, Hooper Chapel,
Alloway Hall, and Dixon Hall, These names now
take their place alongside the names associated with
Toronto Bible College - William J. Horsey Library,
Rhodes Hall, Usher Hall, McNicol Hall. These
names will stand as a perpetual reminder of the two
Colleges whose history and experience have now
merged.

The future now stretches before us. Together we
now move as one in Christ in order to realize God's
purpose in the momentous days which are before us.
This combining of strong, spiritual faculties, dedi-
cated and zealous students, godly men who have
governed the two bodies, and praying and supporting
Christian constituencies, cannot help but produce,
under the blessing of God, a finer and better equipped
Bible College for this new day in which we live.

Our
President

Dr. and Mrs. Boehmer

To be "in Christ" is to be a Oiristian or "Christ's one". That sinners who had been
ruined by the fall should attain unto such a glorious standing is beyond our ability to
comprehend. But God has declared the fact, and His children accept it in simple faith,
"There is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus."

But do we stop there? God forbid! The Christian is to "grow in grace and in the
knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ". Concerning the Saviour, the Scriptures
declare that He "increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man".
The reference, of course, is to His human, and not His divine, nature. Of His human-
ity we read, "although He was God's Son, yet learned He obedience from the sufferings
which He endured".

Young people are so often characterized by zeal and enthusiasm. They are impet-
uous. They see visions. They want to get on with the job. And dedicated Christians are
no exception to the rule. But since God has commissioned you to be His ambassadors in
the despatch of His business, it is of paramount importance that you go forth to represent
Him as "workmen that need not to be ashamed".

To be sure, you will have ample opportunity to serve Him and to make Him known
even during these days of training. But your main task must be that of adequate pre-
paration with a view to "full maturity in Christ". Zeal will not suffice. Nor will a
second-rate education. With Paul we pray that "your love may abound yet more
and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that ye may approve things that are
excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence 'til the day of Christ. ,"

Alumni Association

Ltmmo 110 rfARS of ChRisiiAN Service ^'

The great unifying factor of our new Alumni Association can be
nothing more and must be nothing less that the Person of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

He is the cohesive force, cementing together mature men and
women in a partnership with a common goal.

This underlying principle of oneness, seen in the figure of His
Body, is giving impetus, motivation and direction to our combined
efforts in His name. We have set aside former prejudices in the form
of livalties and have blended our Associations into one energetic and
productive alliance.

From this spiritual look-out, we anticipate only the full and
active interest of the whole family and an enthusiastic participation
in the developments that will be forthcoming. We will ask God to
use our influence individually in encouraging young people to pre-
pare for the Lord's work and we will give of that which has been
committed to our trust, and in so doing, prove the sincerity of our
love.

Let us therefore covenant with one another that the unparalleled
opportunities ahead will not find us wanting in initiative.

In Honour

Dr. Boehmer and Dr. Foster have proved themselves to be apt leaders during their
previous ministries in Toronto and London. Ontario Bible College owes much to
the knowledge, foresight and planning of these men.

Realizing the tremendous duties and responsibilities which they face, we as
students have come to appreciate their daily understanding, patience and en-
couragement. To you, who symbolize the unity of spirit and goal of our college,
we dedicate the MQxaipa of 1969.

Student Council Draws Up

New Constitution

Student leaders from London and Toronto joined in an
enlarged Council to represent the combined student
bodies. As weekly sessions convened, new plans,
student activities and policies were programmed; the
complaints of students were aired and dealt with.

One of the many duties of the Council Executive was
to work with faculty in drawing up the College
Student Constitution.

It was a difficult year, - busy, but rewarding for
each member as motions were proposed, discussed

Rosalie Adams (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

\A/hen I wait on the Lord, He renews nny strength in order
that I can do all things without becoming weary or faint.

James Akintola (Past. , B. Th. )

"Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things
as ye have: for Himself hath said, I mil in no wise fail thee,
neither will I in any wise forsake thee. "

Hebrews 13:5

Earl Ambrose (Past. , B. Th. )

"And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect
of righteousness quietness and assurance forever. "

Isaiah 32:17

Agnes Ananichuk (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
The  mercies  never  come  to  an  end;
They  are  new  every  morning;
Great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22, 23(R.S.V. )

56

Anand Chaudhari (Past. , B.Th.)

"God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our
Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and
I unto the world ! "

Gal. 6:14

Gary Andres (Diploma)

Find delight and satisfaction in the ways of your Lord; and,
as you do. He will grant fulfillment to the longings and desires
of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 (Paraphrase)

Rodney R. Bartlett (Past. , B.R.E.)

I have found it is for man to put motion to life and God will
give it direction. For the Spirit that God has given us does not
make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power and love
and self-control.

Prov. 16:9; II Tim. 1:7

Anne Bailey (Diploma)

"Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat
which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man
shall give unto you: for Him hath God the Father sealed. "

John 6:27

57

Isaac Bello(Past., B.Tli.)

"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made per-
fect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I glory in my weak-
nesses, that the strength of Christ may rest upon me. "

n Cor. 12:9 (R.V.)

Carol Belford (Past., B.Th.)

"The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime,
and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto
the God of my life. "

Psalm 42:8

Ed. Borisenko (Bible School)

"He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed,
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves
with him. "

Psalms 126:6

Jolm Booker (Pre-Sem., B.Th.)

Oh, to be like thee! Full of compassion, loving, forgiving,
tender and kind, helping the helpless, cheering the fainting, the
wandering sinner seeking to find.

58

Ray Briggs (Past. , B.Th.)

"For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never
do anything that will cause me to be ashamed of myself; but
that I \i?ill always be ready to speak out boldly for Christ
while I am going through all these trials here, just as I have in
the past; and that I will always be an honour to Christ, whether
I live or whether I must die. "

Philippians 1:20 (Living Letters)

Gordon Braid (Diploma)

"I wll sing unto the Lord because He has blessed me so
richly. "

Psalm 13:6 (Living Letters)

William Buikema (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)
How could I do OTthout Him?
He's everything to me.
Christ is all I am
And everything I'll be.

(M. Buikema)

Patricia Burn (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

God , I want to thank You for the way You have been es-
pecially good to me, just as You promised in Your Word. Now,
Lord, as You and I go out to make known Your deeds among
the people, I would echo the words of Solomon, "I am but a
little child. I know not how to go out or come in . . . Give
therefore thy servant an understanding heart. "
Psalm 119:65; 105:1; I Kings 3:7, 9

59

Ruth Cavey (Chr. Ed.. B.R.E.)

I will not fear, for He is with me,
I  will  not  be  discouraged,  for  He  is  my  God;
He will strengthen ;me. He will help me.
He will keep me with His unfailing right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (Paraphrase)

Jennifer Charlton (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

"For my deep desire and hope is that I shall never fail my
duty, but that at all times, and especially right now, I shall
be full of courage, so that with my whole self I shall bring
honour to Christ, virhether I live or die. "

Philippians 1:20

Joy Church (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

"But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou
Shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and vsrhatsoever I command
thee thou shalt speak. - Behold, I have put my words in thy
mouth. "

Jeremiah 1:7, 9 (b)

Geraldine Collett (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

before me. "

I Cor. 16:9 - Weymouth

Marguerite Connaty (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

Because Christ died for me, I should not live, therefore,
unto myself - steeped in materialism to satisfy my selfish
desires; but I should live completely in Him, being free
through His death and resurrection.

n Cor. 5:15 (Paraphrase)

Donna Davidson (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

The Lord is my God, He teaches me to profit and leads
me where I should go.

Isaiah 48:17 (Paraphrase)

Ruth Cudmore (Diploma)

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Ciirist, which
according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a
lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. "

Don Pama (Chr. Ed., B. 1^ E. )

If 1 delight myself in the things of God, I can expect Him
to grant me the desires of my heart, for my desires will be of
such a nature, that they will be entwined in His.

Nancy Eby (App. Music, B. S. M. Honours)
"Were the whole realm of nature mine.

(Isaac Watts)

David George (Diploma)

"And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be

Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

Barbara Gustafsson (Miss., B, R. E. )

Dorothy Hamilton (Chr. Ed. , B. R. E.

"Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own
mould but let God re-mould your minds from within so that you
may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good,

A deep sense of responsibility and obligation comes with
the realization that 1 am His workmanship created in Christ
Jesus unto good works-God, even before my obedience, having
planned my walk of discipleship.

Psalm 16:11

Maybeth Knights, R.N. (Miss., B.R.E.)

Robert MacFarlane (Miss., B.R.E.)

Ian Percy (Chr. Ed.. B.R.E.)
What language shall I borrow
To thank Thee, dearest Friend:
For this Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
O  make  me  thine  forever;
And should I fainting be,
I^rd, let me never, never
Out live my love to thee. (Clairvaux)

Thomas Phinnemore (Past. B.Th.)

God only requires the Christian to be yielded and obedient
to His will and all His blessing is guaranteed. But persistent
bitterness and rebellion toward His will brings destruction,
promised by Yahweh, Lord of Hosts.
Isaiah 1:19, 20

(God's greatest commandment Matt. 22:37-39)

I'm a better person because of it.

Colleen Reid (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, says: only in re-

Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go. "

Kate B. Wilkinson

Wesley Reddekop (Chr. Ed., B.Th.)

(I will) keep before (me) an outline of the sound teaching
which (I have) heard. . ., Living by the faith and love which
are ours in Christ Jesus, guarding the treasure put into our
charge, with the help of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.

II Timothy 1:13, 14 (NEB)

Donald Scheel (Pre-Sem., B. Th.)

. . .Jesus Christ whom God displayed publicly as a propi-
tiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate
His righteousness because in the forbearance of God He passed
over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, 1
say, of His righteousness at the present time that He might be
just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:25, 26 (NewA.S.V.)

Edythe Sorley (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

But now thus says the Lord, He who created you, O Jacob,
He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed
you; I have called you by name, you are mine".

Isaiah 43:1

Dorcas Shuen (Bible School)

0  Jesus,  1  have  promised  to  serve  Thee  to  the  end;
Be  Thou  forever  near  me,  my  Master  and  my  Friend;

1 shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side.

Nor wander from the pathway, if Thou will be my Guide.

Virginia Somerville (Chr. Ed., B. Th.)

Wing-Sien Tai (Chr. lid., 13.R.E.)

Seek  ye  first  the  kingdom  of  God  and  His  righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33

Ronald Unruh (Past. B. Th.)

Yet closer come:
Thou  art  not  near  enough.    1  would  embrace  thy  care;
So I might feel My child reposing on My breast,
Thou  lovest  Me?    I  knew  it.    Doubt  not  then;
But loving Me, lean hard.

Margaret Sutherland (Missions, B.R.E.)

Maxwell Vague, B. Th. (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

the night cometh, when no man can work.

John 9:4

72

Harry Weatherhead (Bible School)

I have found since I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my
Saviour and Lord that He is One on whom I can depend for all
of my needs. He is One who is closer than a brother to me.

John Weiler (Past. B. Th.)

Jesus said, "You should not work for the food which does
not last but for the food which lasts on into eternal life" . This
is the food the Son of Man will give you, and He is the One who
bears the stamp of God the Father.

John 6:27 (Phillips)

Mary Ellen Wenzel (Bible School)
I  may  not  pass  this  way  again;
Grant me to soothe the hearts of men,
Faithful  to  friends,   true  to  my  God;
A fragrance on the path 1 trod.

Bryan VVigglesworth, M.B., Ch. B. (Missions, B.R.E.)

That I may. . .lead a life worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing
to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the
knowledge of God.

Philip Williams (Pte-Sem., B. Th.)
All that I am, e'en here on earth.

All that I hope to be.
When Jesus Comes and glory dawns,

I owe it. Lord, to Thee.

(Bonar)

Eugene Wright (Past., B. Th.)

Lean on, trust and be confident in the Lord with all your
heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or under-
standing. In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge
Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your
paths .

Proverbs 3:5, 6 (Paraphrase)

Matjorie Wright (Chr. Ed., B.R.E.)

OUR TRIBUTE

]. William Horsey

J. William Horsey, who served as Chairman of the Board of this College from
December. 1964, died on December 20, 1968 at the age of 76 in St. Petersburg,
Florida .

News media paid many tributes to his outstanding accomplishments in the business
world. These accomplishments, however, serve only to illustrate the grace and
guidance of God in the life of this man. We remember him as a loyal servant of
God and as our friend.

Mr. Horsey's generous contributions to this institution will have an effect on the
life of every student who studies at Ontario Bible College.

With these few and all too inadequate words, the students, staff and faculty pay
tribute to a man of God, Mr. J. William Horsey.

The power of the gospel
is to bring light and warmth.
It is not an end in itself. But
soundness without warmth is
repelling and warmth without
soundness is misleading.

Prayer is the soul's sincere desire,
Uttered  or  unexpressed;
The motion of a hidden fire
That trembles in the breast.

Prayer is the simplest form of speech
That  infant  lips  can  try;
Prayer the sublimest strains that

teach
The Majesty on high.

Prayer is the Christian's vital breath,
The  Christian's  native  air;
His  watchword  at  the  gates  of  death;
He enters heaven with prayer.
