The 1936 GATEWAY said. "Lilian
was brought up in a Christian home and
does not remember any time when she
did not know the Lord. We have admired
her quiet, studious ways while she was in

we are sure, in her work for the Lord."

A Message from the President
/li^
<^Z.^Ci.4^ '
Few lives in Biblical history so challenge the imaginations of our hearts as does
Abraham's pilgrimage with God! Jehovah's call brought uprootedness; Babylon was no
longer his home, and in the new land of promise he lived as an alien; faith in God brought
a stirring vision to Abraham's life - henceforth "he looked for the city which hath founda-
tions, whose architect and builder is God."
He was a pilgrim, but a pilgrim with God; there were altars of worship and dedication,
visits with the Lord by day, and talks with Him in the night; through Isaac he experienced
God as El Shaddai. It was a life filled with bright hope, for the future, for our Lord says,
"Abraham saw My day."
May you who have spent some time at Ontario Bible College, be powerfully motivated
to be a pilgrim - who persistently and steadfastly looks for the city of God. And may
your life, as an obedient servant of our Lord, be like Abraham's - an adventure with God!
A Message from the Chancellor
so YOU ARE A PILGRIM?
However it is defined, the word "Pilgrim" means a traveller, a way-
farer - always moving, advancing, climbing hills or crossing rivers, BUT
NEVER STANDING STILL!
Bunyan wrote in his immortal classic: "They went then till they
came to the 'Delectable Mountains'; which mountains belong to the
Lord of that hill of which we have spoken before; so they went up to
the Mountains to behold the gardens and orchards, the vineyards and
fountains of water; where also they drank and washed themselves and
did freely eat of the vineyards."
Those 'Delectable Mountains' may seem to be a long way off, as you
start out on a new pilgrim journey, and the fruit and fountains may
seem to be elusive - but be assured that they are there.
You will reach them, eventually and assuredly, by slow prodding,
fervent prayer and sincere service.
Another writer (H.A. Williams in 'Soundings') has well said:
"It is therefore the opinion of the present writer that even in this age
there are no supersonic flights to the Celestial City, or even to the
Palace Beautiful. Increased awareness can be obtained only by a
journey on foot by way of the Slough of Despond, the Hill of Difficul-
ty, Doubting Castle and the rest."
Pilgrims of 1977 - plod on, fight on, keep on, and some day for you
too, as they did for Valiant - For - The - Truth, "all the trumpets
will sound on the other side", and pilgrimage will cease.
May God give you a faithful heart in your pilgrimage!
Dedication Service
r\
The official opening and dedication of the new Campus
and Ontario Theological Seminary was held on Sunday,
September 26, 1976. That afternoon the chapel, dining hall,
and gymnasium were filled to capacity with dignitaries, stu-
dents, relatives, and interested friends. The speaker for this
occasion was Rev. G.B. Griffiths, member of the Board of
Governors. Special music was provided by the College
Chorale. The service held for all a vivid reminder of the way
God miraculously provides.

Grey clouds, baseball, and a pie in the face characterized this year's Family Picnic.
Freshmen as always were victorious on the field, faculty as always was victorious at
the dinner table.
STUDENT'S COUNCIL
Student Council has been involved this year in the challenge of working for a sense of family unity here at O.B.C. It
has been a pleasure to see Council tackling their jobs, with a vision of ministry to students and then seeing our own and
student growth as a result. I can think of no better way to finish my years at OBC than to be involved with students
through the office of President.
I'm especially grateful to Jacquie, Danny, and Ruth whose ideas and counsel were indispensable in getting the job done.
A special thank you as well to the members of the Council who all worked so hard in this transition year.
In closing could I leave with you the thought that Timothy received from Paul: Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith,
love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith. ..keep the commandments without stain or blemish until
the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sincerely,
Kevin Fleetwood.

"I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling
with which you have been called . . . being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond
of peace."
The apostle Paul knew that all Christians are united together by the Holy Spirit. He was also
aware that knowing this fact intellectually and knowing it in experience were two different
things. He exhorted believers to preserve and work at the experience of being one in the Spirit.
The major goal of our class has been to promote the unity that we have in Christ. Knowing
it in our minds is easy, but we want to experience it. My prayer is that as we reflect over this
past school year we will be able to say "Yes, experience told me that were one in Christ."
Yours in His Spirit,
Ken Hurst

CHRIST OUR VISION
We've changed
From that first scared day at Spadina
To our final step onto Bay\'iew
A few gone-not forgotten
Others joined
sharing what students share
sharing what God's children share
Not yet finished our course
we've merely gained first insight of self...
first look at our task
And so we pray
for a class of individuals
to use their strengths
and remember their weaknesses
before our God.
"Let us run the race with endurance fixing our eyes upon
Jesus; the author and tinisher of our iaith." Hebrews 12:1,2.

Along the ice
And snow-covered beach.
They stop and embrace a kiss.
The walkway, lit by muffled lamps
As the mist 'round each one's swirled.
The shadows see
No more than themselves.
They alone walk in their world.
A chill lake breeze slips over them
And the lake-sound laps their ears.
Their lives entwine,
A brief encounter.
The frost wind freezes their tears.
Together they pass through the night
One's hand clasping the other's.
Like phantoms, both.
From another life.
Never knowing each other.

'Midst the forest
Her leaves still glister
With the dew of dawn.
Her petals were velvet,
Still partially closed.
In all the forest
The only white rose.
Her fragance was sweet
On a warm wisp of air.
Her stem was slender;
I touched it with care.
Then her petals shone
A dazzling white.
The clouds dissipated,
The air, once more, light
Her freshness then filled
The air that 1 breathed.
The birds came alive
As their song was freed.
And at once I knew
That wild rose was mine.
And I shall love her,
Love for all time.

"Because I love my Master" were the words that rung in
our ears repeatedly as Mr. Elwyn Davies brought God's word
to us from Titus 1: 1-4 during the 76-77 Missionary Confer-
ence. "Our expression of love to God is obedience, choosing
not to go free," said our theme speaker. What a challenge!
What a privilege! For we have been entrusted with the gos-
pel.
Dozens responded to such a challenge by making a public
committment during the final evening service of the Confer-
ence whiles others quietly watched and prayed.
Diane and I want to sincerely thank each one of you who
gave so freely and worked so sacrificially on the S.C.G.M.
When people work together, doing it for the Lord, He blesses,
and that He did.
It has been a tremendous training time for Diane and I
this year and we count it a privilege to serve you in this way.
As we leave this great college that has had such a significant
role in our lives through faculty/staff/students, we will miss
you.

This year, the long awaited dream
of many faculty and students was real-
ized, not only in the move to our
beautiful new campus, but also in the
opening of Ontario Theological Semi-
nary. The attractive new building
housing the seminary was completed
late in the first term, and provides
room not only for seminary classes,
but also for several of the larger O.B.C.
classes.
The Seminary offers full time post
graduate work for those wishing it,
leading up to a Masters Degree. Also
avaOable are part time courses, avail-
able for full-time pastors wishing fur-
ther education and training.

O.B.C. Evening School
Every Tuesday and Thursday evening scores of adults, from
every walk of life from all over Metropolitan Toronto come to
the O.B.C. campus to continue their education in the area of Bib-
lical and Church related courses.
Some come as new believers desiring to know more about their
new found faith; others to improve their knowledge and others to
pursue the possibility of future ministry.
The Evening School operates in two divisions. The Diploma
Division offers several six week courses in a variety of areas.
These classes meet for one and a half hours per week.
A recent development in the Evening School has been the of-
fering of regular College Credit courses. Here regular day school
subjects are offered. The Credit Division has been operating for
two years and interest runs very high at this point.

"CHRIST OUR VISION"
(Heb. 12:1, 2)
Your Class Motto has both
A SUBJECT: "CHRIST"
Subject: "The word denoting that concerning which an
affirmation is made."
IS HE "BOTH LORD AND CHRIST" TO YOU?
and
AN OBJECT: "VISION"
Object: "The word or phrase that receives the action
of the verb and completes the subject."
IS YOUR "VISION" THE FULFILLMENT OF CHRIST'S PURPOSES IN YOU?
It is easy to choose a motto. It is difficult to see it practically
fulfilled. God help you to see its fulfillment in your lives.

Good Old College Days
The days in school have gone by fast,
But the happy memories have not past.
The big bad college has stopped to rest,
For three long months of lonely quest.
The work was hard; the days were long,
But in a few years you'll be gone.
And on some dark, dreary day.
You'll think back and say,
"Those really were the good old days! "

BORN TO WIN
If you will only touch me,
And do it gently and softly;
If you will just look at me,
And smile at me sincerely;
If sometimes, before you speak,
You'll listen to what I know;
Then you will hear my heart beat.
And you'll see that I will grow.
Don't shut me out of the life we're in,
Because, you see, I was born to win.
M. Skinner.
