Activities
Working At Y.C.P.
From November 16 to 19, the York College The-
atre Company presented WORKING: a musical, in
the Theatre. A superb job of portrayal can be accre-
dited to the students and faculty who spent hours
upon hours memorizing, practicing and polishing
their segments for the four day showing. It was a
pleasure to see members with the talent and confi-
dence to perform on stage. Congratulations to all
involved. A JOB well done.

Baseball
The baseball season actually began with fall practice tor the
York College team. Unfortunately, bad weather postponed the
beginning of spring on -field practice. The baseball team ended
their season with a 24-9 record. We are looking forward to an
even better season from those team members who will be
returning.

Mens Basketball
York concluded the 1983-84 season at 11-14, after facing
what was conceded as its most difficult schedule in history.
Coach Gamber knew that going into the season, although he
thought competing against the better quality squads would
result in victories over "lesser" teams. Quite frankly, it didn't.
Although next season 's schedule looks just as competitive, we
can look forward to an outstanding performance by Wayne
Johnson and many other returning players.

renege on its women's schedule due to lack ot participants.
Participation for Men 's Cross Country was not outstanding. The
overall record was very disappointing, although the squad made
an outstanding effort. The anticipated star runner. Mark Riz-
zuto, suffered from an injury dealing with his achilles tendon
but made a gallant effort to run in every race. Although the
team was plaqued with injuries throughout the season, we must
commend these men for having the desire to compete as best
they were able.

Field Hockey
This year's Field Hockey team was a very competitive and
talented group. The level of competency grew because J. V. was
also a very well developed and pushed Varsity to achieve greater
heights. The final record of 9 wins, 4 losses and 2 ties put this
squad close to being ranked in the top 20 nationally for Division
HI. The college and the team itself can certainly be proud of the
1983 team and its accomplishmnets.

Golf
The 1984 golf season was a tremendous success. Throughout
the season, the team shot record breaking scores in weather
conditions far from ideal. The Spartans concluded the season
with a 10-1-1 record. During the season, the golf team set an
Outdoor Country Club record with a 385 score against Millers -
ville. The only disappointment in the season was the failure tobe
selected to play in the NCAA Division 111 championships.

Soccer
The 1983 Soccer season began with high expectmons to
exceed last year's record, bat this was not to be. A combination
of inexperience and injuries hindered the team throughout the
season. Since the squad is predominately made up of athletes
eligible to play next year, they are looking forward to an
improved record from the experience gained this year.

Mens Swimming
This season, the men's swimming and diving teams made a
giant step fotward. Not only have they incteased in numbers
and spirit, but they achieved the attitude of a close knit gtoup
striving together to do their best not only as individuals, but as a
team. They may not have posted a winning season, but the
future looks bright for this young rebuilding team. Their drive
and determination will take them far next year.

The 1983-84 team, wade up mostly of underclassmen, have
really made a giant leap forward with their attitudes toward
competition. A few athletes wete plaqued by injuries who
otherwise would be an asset to the team. Their recotd may not
have been a winning one, but they are looking forward to an

Track And Field
The 1984 track and field team finished the season with a 2-8
record. This season the team had the largest turnout of women
with more than half completing the season, even though they
did not officially Held a womens' team. Mark Rizzuto set two
new team records m the 800 meter run and 3000 meter steeple-
chase and finished second and fourth respectively in the steeple-
chase in invitatinoal meets. One high point of the season was a
double win over Baptist Bible and Gallaudet on York's track.

Wrestling
The York College wrestling team completed another suc-
cessful season with a 13-. 'I dual meet record. The highlight ot
the dual meet season was a season ending win over Millersville
University (NCAA Division I). This marked the first time in
eleven years a York College wrestling team has defeated Mil-
lersville. The success of this season 5 team was largely due to the
attitude of the team members. Many team members wrestled
out of their weight division so that the strongest taem possible
could be fielded for a given meet.
