Your committee reports the followine;: The Bible, the book of
hooks, should be read by all men, and especially by Baptists. It
should be our way-bill through life; good Baptist books should not
lie ignored; we should all read them. So far as newspapers are con-
cerned, we as Baptists should have a good Baptist paper in our fam-
ilies. Of course the "Alabama Baptist" should be ourchoice among
all the laymen, and the preachers should take the "Baptist" and the
"Sermonizer." Respectfully, W. L. Davis, Chairman.

We believe the cause of Temperance is on the increase. We re-
commend the churches to observe strict disci[)line in regard to their
members signing whiskey jietitions and drinking sjiirits as a bever-
age, and we observe the great influence which our sisters have in the
cause of temperance. We solicit their co-operaiion in this great
cause, and especially the young sisters, we advise them not to keeji
company with young men who have the smell of ardent spirits about
them. Respectfully, II. C. Loard, Chairman.

Your Committee on Sunday Schools ask leave to submit the fol-
lowing report : That the Sunday School is an important factor in
the salvation of souls, cannot be denied. The good that has been ac-
cqmplished in this glorious work cannot be estimated. While this is
true, still our churches are not as active in the maintenance of our
schools as they should be; therefore; we recommend and insist that
all our people gi\e this part oi church work more attention. We
fi^rther recommend that our fathers and mothers take their loveil
ones to the Sunday Schools, instead of telling them to go.

Respectfully, Cj. H. Tiiigpen, Chairman.

Read, and after iieiiig discussed 1)V <). H 'riii^ipen and (^.W.
Harrison, it was adopted Follovviug is the report

Brethren the world is moving, and humanity is on the wing, and
there was never a more needful time to educate the young in morals
and literature. Respectfully submitted S. B. Ray, Chairman.

Committoo on Missions.

After being reported, was s[)okeii to l)y EUlers Eiland and
Harrison, it was adopted Follow. ng is tl;e report:

Your committee makes the following report: The Mission
cause is the cause of Christ, which cause moved the Father to send
His Son among sinners to labor and die for them, whose command
to his followers is "Go ye and teach all nations," and inasmuch as
all have not been taught the command is yet binding on His people.
Since God in his providence has thrown open the doors of Cuba,
Porto Rico, Hawaii and some of the Philippines, and our denomina-
tion having 218 missionaries in the field on the frontiers besides a
goodly number in foreign lands, it behooves us as the vv^itnesses of
Jesus to bend every energy in the propagation of our Master's king-
dom on earth. We should be about our Master's business, and in
our estimation this devolves especially upon Baptists.

Respectfully sulimitted, C. I^. flii.Axn, Chairman.
