"To be at home in all lands
and ages:

to count Mature a familiar
acquaintance

and Art an intimate friend:

to gain a standard for the
appreciation of other
men's work

and the criticism of your
own:

to carry the keys of the
world's library in your
pocket.

and feel its resources behind
you in whatever task you
undertake:

to make hosts of friends
among people of your
own age

who are to be leaders in
all walks of life:

to lose yourself in generous
enthusiasms

and cooperate with others
for common ends:

to learn manners from stu-
dents who are gentlemen:

and form character under
professors who are cul-
tured—

this is the offer of the col-
lege for the best four
years of your life."

WILLIAM HEWITT HYDE

PRESIDENT SCARBOROUGH

"Pursued with perseverance
mid patience, the main path-
way ai li esleyan leads to
levels oj comprehension and

competence, and culture,
and concern, and compas-
sion, and Christian commit-
ment, below which the life
good to live is relatively im-

"Alma Mater of the Mountains
West Virginia Wesleyan
At thy magic mystic fountains
Noblest dream of life began.
We,  thy  children,  bow  before  thee;
We,  thy  children,  now  adore  thee;
And pledge God, who watches o'er thee,
Thou shalt fill the ample measure of his
plan."

"You to the left and I to the right.

For the ways of men must sever —

And it may be for a day and a night,

And it well may be forever.

But whether we meet or whether we part.

{For our ways are past our knowing)

A pledge from the heart to its fellow heart,

On the ways we all are going!

Here's hick!

For we know not where we are going."
