1910
Irene Roper Coolidge Heck is an authority
on and specializes in raising African Violets
in her basement at Lewistown, Pa. She has
about 1,000 plants growing under fluorescent
lights. Mrs. Heck says, "I rai.se for showing
(exhibiting in flower shows)." A member of
the Mifflin County Garden Club since it
was organized in 1933, Mrs. Heck won 21
ribbons at the club-sponsored 1969 flower
show. She has lost count of the nimiber
of blue ribbons won in her lifetime. She is
the mother of four and lives in Lewistown.
1914
John Gray Glenn continues to live in Get-
tysburg, Pa. He retired as Pearson Professor
of Classics at Gettysburg College in 1966
after having taught there since 192.5. He
holds a Ph.D. from Princeton. The Glenn's
have a son and a daughter.
1923
Clyde R. Shnyder reminded us that he was
the business manager of the first yearbook
( The Dart ) . He retired from Darling Valve
and Manufacturing Company in 1968 and
lives in Williamsport.
1924
Geneva Rich Bickel contines to be active
in the Woolrich Community Church, Wool-
rich, Pa., where she has held numerous po-
sitions of responsibility over many years.
1925
Leonard H. Rothermel retired in 1964 and
moved to Trevorton, Pa. He has enjoyed his
retirement by travelling to Europe, the Medi-
terranean, South America, the Caribbean,
Me.xico, Canada, and all over the United
States. He also enjoys gardening, golf and
photography. He had worked as a teacher
and administrator for the Ambridge, Pa. pub-
lic schools for the past 35 years. He holds
a master's degree from the University of
Pittsburgh.
1927
Helen Seaman Marsh retired in 1968 as a
home economics teacher at Glen Cove, Long
Island, N. Y., and is living on Lake Oneida,
N. Y. Her daughter and two grandchildren
live three miles away. She enjoys member-
ship in the New York State Retired Teachers
Association, the Bridgeport United Meth-
odist Church and the Golden Age Club of
Mineo. She holds a B.A. degree from Beaver
and an M.A. degree from New York Uni-
versity.
1931
E. Bruce Taylor works as the business
manager of the Juvenile Diagnostic Center
in Grove City, Ohio. He holds a master's
degree from Duke University. His son, Dale,
attended Lycoming before going in the Air
Force in 1963. His" sister Eva C. Taylor '28
and brother Carl B. Taylor '30 claim Dick-
in.son Seminary as alma mater also. Bruce
was hsted in Who's Who in the Methodist
Church. 1966 edition.

1933
Nina Cummings Lofgren is employed as a
caseworker with the Tioga Comity Board
of Assistance. She and her husband live in
Wellsboro, Pa. They are the parents of two
married daughters and have three grandchil-
dren. Nina won a prize in the Alumni-Facul-
ty Golf Tournament two vears ago.
1936
Dorothy Hyde Mowry is living in Spofford,
New Hampshire where she does substitute
teaching. She has one son.
Marshall and Thursa Bakey Sanders have
returned to their home in McLean, Virginia.
Marshall has retired as a Colonel in the
U. S. Air Force. They had been at Wright
Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and were
host to the College Choir during their tour
in February.
1937
Louisa M. Atherton has returned to Penn
State as a part time student working on her
master's degree in microbiology. She is also
a full time research assistant at Penn State
in the area of D. D. T. and fish genetic
research.
Lola Kurtz Huber continues to give pri-
vate piano instruction at her home in Mon-
toursville. Pa. She has one daughter.

1941
Margaret Fowler Lander's son Tom is a
freshman at Lycoming. Margaret and her
husband Raymond have three other children.
She is listed in "Who's Who in American
Women. " She holds a bachelor's degree from
Beaver College, and was the director of
women's physical education and a biology
instructor at Dickinson Junior College 1946-
48. The Landers live in Rochester.
1943
Doris Mell Karpinski's daughter is a fresh-
man at Lycoming imder the Lycoming
Scholar Program. Her one son graduates
from Ursinus this year and will continue
work at Lehigh University in mathematics.
A second son attends Junior High School.
Doris assists her pediatrician husband in his
practice in Wayne, Pa. Her medical secre-
tarial course at Dickinson Junior College
really helped.
1944
Blanche Beck Britt is working as the co-
ordinator of Christian Education at the Au-
burn United Methodist Church in Auburn,
Georgia. Her husband is a minister and they
have three children.
1945
George D. Wolf has been promoted to pro-
fessor of American studies and history at
the Pennsylvania State University's Capitol
Campus at Middletown. His latest book,
"Fair Play Setders of the West Branch Val-
ley" was published earlier this year by the
Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Com-
mission.
Suzanne Umstead Wolf is presently serv-
ing as President of the Women's Association
of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Erie,
Pa. Her family consists of two sons and three
daughters.
1948
Harold Lundy coordinates all training pro-
grams for 28,000 employees at the Sparrows
Point Plant in Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
The Lundys live in Baltimore.
Muriel Bryer Creps supervises all payroll
adjustments for the nearly 29,000 employees
in the school district of Philadelphia. She
holds a B.S. degree from Beaver College.
Mary Jane Shreiner Mowrer is the co-
owner and designer of Shreiner's Florists in
Paradise, Pa. She got her bachelor's degree
at Penn State and has two children.
1949
Fred Reed, manager of Reed Milk and Ice
Cream Company is also mayor of the city of
Shamokin, Pa. He has three children and
one grandson.
Andy Zecha continues as associate professor
and head of the business administration de-
partment at the University of Singapore. His
daughter Angelyn is a freshman at Lycoming.
Ellinob Davies Halter reports she worked
as a social worker from graduation until her
marriage in 1956. She moved to California
when her husband retired from the Navy.
They lived in the Bay area near San Francis-
co vmtil 1969 when thev tired of the smog
and moved to the mountains to the small
town of Burney — "A lovely place to live."
Besides caring for her two children, she is
employed by the school district as a substi-
tute teacher.
1950
Eleanor Kraft Franco lives in Upper
Darby with her husband Charles and their
son Paul.
Ruth Paul Mover helps her husband in his
business "The Moyer Co." of Bloomsburg,
Pa. In addition, she takes care of her family
which includes three sons.
1951
Lerov E. Simpson is manager of the Cake
Division of Stroehmann Brothers Company,
Williamsport. He is also serving as Chairman
of the Administrative Board of the South
Wilhamsport United Methodist Church and
financial secretary of the high school Band
Association. He has three daughters and a
son.
1952
Beverly Armstrong .Tohev works as a
secretary to the Senior High School Coordi-
nators in the Mt. Lebanon School District,
Pittsburgh. She works with eighty-nine dif-
ferent teachers in updating curriculum in
English, science, foreign language, math and
social studies. Beverly says the work is never
dull and it helps her to keep up with the
thinking of her five children. She is anxious
for their new $1.5,000,OnO high school to be
completed.
Gordon Gillette continues his teaching
career as an assistant professor of sociology
at Springfield College in Massachusetts. He
holds a master's degree in sociology from
George Williams College. He is treasurer of
the Springfield College Federal Credit
Union. His father, Phil G. Gillette is com-
pleting his 40th year on the faculty at Ly-
coming.
1953
Richard ZirrrERLiNc is a vice president of
the Pittsburgh National Bank and works as
a Trust Account Manager. His oldest son is
a freshman at Lycoming. He has three other
children.
Vernon L. Hevner has been elected Vice
President and Controller of Meyer Brothers
in Paterson, New Jersey. He is responsible
for the accounting, electronic data processing
and financial functions of the corporation.
With his wife and three daughters, he re-
sides in Wanaque, New Jersey.
David H. Donkle is living in Madison, Wis-
consin, employed by the American Family
Mutual Insurance Co. He supervises prop-
erty loss adjusters in thirty-one counties of
Wisconsin. He is also superintendent of the
South Central Wisconsin Division of the Na-
tional Model Railroad Association.
John E. Greenfieldt is the associate direc-
tor of the Karafin Educational Center in
Yorktown Heights, New York. He holds a
master's degree in education from Western
Maryland College.
AuDRA Baldrige Kesler teaches piano and
organ and will have twenty-five students in
"Pianorama" in June. This event is held at
Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh.
1954
Enjay Chemical Company has promoted
Richard D. Myers to the position of senior
technical sales representative. Enjay Chemi-
cal Company manufactures and markets a
variety of chemical products that include
plastics, fibers, laminates, synthetic rubbers,
additives, and industrial and specialty chemi-
cals. Dick lives in Middlesex, New Jersey
with his wife and four children.
Richard D. Myers
Carl N. Stiber, Jr. has been named man-
ager of the Sears, Roebuck and Company
store at Pleasantville, New Jersey. He had
been in Chambersburg, Pa. Carl and his
wife, the former Shirley Oberdorfeb '.53,
have four children.
James H. Gold leads a busy life as pastor
of two churclies a block apart and of two
different denominations. He is also chaplain
of the Pa. State Grange and asst. fire chief
of the Ickesburg Volunteer Fire Company.
The Gold's have two sons and a daughter.
Joanne Baumunk Ford lives in Newport
Beach, Cafifornia with her daughter, three
sons and her husband who is a professor of
physics at the University of California at
Irvine. Joanne received her B.A. degree at
Boston Universitv after transferring from
Lycoming.
Rudy C.\rinc.i has produced, edited, adapted
and directed a motion picture "Warm in the
Bud " which is winning critical acclaim.
Rudy studied at Harvard and Yale and has
earned a doctorate in English. His movie has
been shown in New York where it won two
awards at a film festival.
1955
G. Thomas Allison was named "Top Sales-
man of the Year" for 1968-69 after having
grossed over $2 million in sales. He calls
on clothing manufacturers in a five-state
area. Tom and his wife, the former Linda
Church '56, live in St. Louis with their
three children.
1956
Betty Louise Swinehart is the secretary-
receptionist of the American Cancer Society
in SvTacuse, New York. She had been a Di-
rector of Christian Education in Syracuse
previously.
Marion Tanner Kistler is now living in
Bethesda, Maryland. The Kistler's have three
daughters and two sons. The youngest son,
Thomas Joseph, was bom February 15, 1970.
James F. Edgeworth, Sr. works as sales
manager for Carl Schmidt Chevrolet, Inc.
in Perrysburg, Ohio. The Edgeworth's have
three children. Jim has received certificates
for his studies in the area of sales and man-
agement.
Bruce D. Fisher, his wife Joan and dieir
five sons have moved to Mechanicsburg, Pa.
.'\fter having been Conference Director of
Youth Ministries for the Central Pa. Confer-
ence Board of Education located at Lycom-
ing College for 5'A years, the union of the
former E. U. B. and Methodist conferences
resulted in a new conference staff selection.
Bruce was named as one of five associate
program directors. His office is located in
the United Church Center, Harrisburg.
Elliott Baumel is employed by Ayerst
Laboratories as a salesman of pharmaceuti-
cals to the medical profession. The Baumel's
have four children and live in Far Rockaway,
New York.
Palt, and Virginia ( Shepherd '58 ) Sh.\piro
live in Willingboro, New Jersey with their
four sons. Paul is working for Wyeth in
Radnor, Pa. He is supervisor of the Foreign
Drug Approval Unit.
1957
Sam and Catherine ( Wabdner '.52 ) Mc-
Donald live in Camp Hill, Pa., where Sam
owns and manages the McDonald Golf Cen-
ter. Thev have two sons and two daughters.
B.\rbara Gresh McArthub and her hus-
band Ken live in Arlington, Virginia while
Ken is stationed at the Pentagon. Babs mar-
ried Captain Kenneth McArthur on June 7,
1968, and they have one daughter born
December 7, 1969. Belated congratulations
on both events.
Stephen Secol is the sales manager in
charge of over twenty men coast to coast for
the number one ladies evening shoe line in
the country. He lives in West Deal, New
Jersey.
Alfred Bbettneb is the Associate Radiolo-
gist at the .Auburn Memorial Hospital in
Auburn, New York. He has completed a
residency and fellowship at the Upstate
Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He
holds an M.D. and Ph.D. from the L^niversity
of Basel, Switzerland. The Brettners have
three children.
Francis M. Johnson and Virginia Ann Tul-
ley were married March 20, 1970, in St.
Thomas Episcopal Church, Denver. Francis
is employed by A\co Lycoming as a super-
visor of systems and programming. They live
in Williamsport.
George Staib is employed as an auditor
with American Consumer Industries, Inc.,
and lives in Woodbury, New Jersey.
Mabsh.all Spiegel is the automotive editor
( and photo jounialist ) with Scholastic Mag-
azines, Inc. He writes a weekly automotive
editorial which reaches eight million readers.
It is one of the largest auto editorships in
the world. In addition, he also produces and
directs "Car and Track," a weekly T.V.
show and is a regular contributor to several
automotive magazines. As a journalist, he
has traveled extensively and had some in-
teresting experiences. He lived on an off-
shore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico; chased
aliens with die U. S. Border Patrol along our
southern border; raced cars in competition,
and covered the filming of several movies in
Hollywood. Marshall says he has had "an
exciting and rewarding career since leaving
Lyco." With their children, the Spiegel's live
in Suffern, New York.

1958
OscAH OsTLUND is uow manager of special
projects at the Graphic Arts Technical Foun-
dation in Pittsburgh. He initiates and imple-
ments special projects in the area of Public
Relations. He recently visited Lycoming.
Matt Gibbs is the owner of Gibbs Pontiac-
Buick in Hughesville. His wife, Mary Keli-
HER '63 handles the bookkeeping and other
related office work while Matt handles sales
and service. They have a son and daughter.
Kenneth Polcyn is the senior member-
technical staff, of Data Dynamics, Inc. He
will receive his Ph.D. from the State Uni-
versity at Tallahassee, Florida this year. He
recently wrote that he traveled throughout
Southeast Asia in 196.5-66 while under con-
tract with the U. S. Air Force to test the per-
formance of a variety of fighter-bomber air-
craft under combat conditions. His work
took him to South Vietnam, Thailand, The
Philippines, Malay.sia, Formosa, and Japan.
He then traveled to Central America to study
Air Force Psychological Operations while un-
der contract with Data Dynamics. While in
Panama, his team lived in the "back coun-
try" with the Cuna Indians. The Polcyn's
have two sons.
Beverly Peril Stebn has been named 2nd
vice president of the newly formed Freehold
Area Branch — American Association of Uni-
versity Women. The Sterns have two chil-
dren and live in Freehold, New Jersey.
Gail Yeager LeCrone is the office manager
for her husband's moving and storage busi-

Four members of the Class of 19.59 were
listed in the 1970 edition of "Outstanding
Young Men of America." They are Hank
CoDD, manager of the Greater Williamsport
Chamber of Commerce and married to the
former Pat Jennings '60; George Dunston,
a science teacher at Piscataway, New Jersey;
John Joe, head wrestling coach and vice
chairman of the Spanish department at Ply-
mouth-Whitemarsh High School; and Chan-
cy Rawleich, who teaches .sociology at
Denison University in Granville, Ohio. They
were selected for "having distinguished
themselves in one or more fields of endeavor
to the point of being outstanding."
Christine Gentile Forsey is employed in
the Treasurer's office of Niagara County as
a stenographer and payroll clerk. She still
finds time to take care of her husband Keith
and their two sons.
Don Hessler is the assistant principal of
the Tamanend Junior High School in the
Central Bucks School District. For the past
three years, Don has taught mathematics
in the Bucks Co. Prison and Rehabilitation
Center. He has coached football and track
in his Junior High School and is Sunday
school superintendent of the St. Paul's Epis-
copal Church in Doylestown, Pa. The Hess-
ler's have two sons and two daughters.
Clarence Jones is a reading consultant with
the Allcntown School District. He has pro-
duced a hand book for the students and
has developed a T.V. introduction for the
special reading program received via closed
circuit T.V.
Dick Kabschner is clrief of Infonnation Ser-
vices Division, Department of Community
,\ftairs. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His
wife, the former June Amoss '60 teaches
10th and 11th grade English at Redland
High School. They hve in Dillsburg, Pa.
1960
John J. Audet, Jr. was recently promoted
to supervisory oceanographer with the Un-
dersea Surveillance Oceanographic Center
of the Naval Oceanographic Office, Suitland,
Maryland. John lives with his wife and three
children in N. Forestville, Maryland.
Richard L. R\udabaugh reports he is the
owner of the Fabric Center in Carlisle, Pa.
Dick received his master's degree in business
admini.stration from American University in
1964. He lives with his wife and four chil-
dren in Cariisle. He was also recently elected
president of the Carlisle Jaycees.
Alfred H. Peterson and his wife Carroll
welcomed a daughter, Carin, on March 7,
1970. Al is working as general manager for
the Clearfield Wholesale Paper Co., Inc. in
Clearfield, Pa.
John S. Renn has completed his residency
in orthopedic surgery at Walter Reed Anny
Hospital and also has completed his air-
borne training at U. S. Army Infantry School.
While in airborne training he made several
jumps from a C-141 jet and reports it was
a rather exciting experience. John is a Major
in the U. S. Army and will be in Vietnam
for the next thirteen months. His wife,
Veloria, and daughters Maurie and Erin will
remain at home in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Eileen M. Taylor has just finished serving
two years as director of the Family Service
Bureau Salvation Army for the city of Bos-
ton. Eileen is now working on her master's
degree in social work at Adelphi University
and will receive that degree in June of 1971.
She is living at 18 Gramercy Park South,
New York, and says she'd like to hear from
some of her old friends.
Fred B. Thomas is presendy the director of
the Computer Center at Edinboro State Col-
lege. Fred lives with his wife JoAnn and
daughter Linda in Edinboro, Pa.
Burke R. Veley was recendy promoted to
controller of IBM Poughkeepsie Plant. He
also helped establish and charter the Fishkill
junior Chamber of Commerce. Burke lives
with his wife and four children in Fishkill,
New York.
Norman Medow and his wife Ronnee are
expecting their first child in July. Norm fin-
ished his term with the U. S. Navy Medical
Corps and will be specializing in ophthal-
mology.
1961
Robert P. Crockett recently received his
master's degree in business administration
from the University of Rochester. Bob will
be moving to Colorado with his wife and
daughter in June 1971 as he has accepted
an assignment from Eastman Kodak's Colora-
do Division.
Edward A. Cunningham has accepted a po-
sition with the Chemagro Corporation of
Kansas City, Missouri in the Product and
Market Development Division.
Ronald E. Kehler, Jr. recently earned his
master's degree in education from the Uni-
versity of Pennsylvania. He is membership
chairman of the' Lower Merion Education
Association and is finishing a year as presi-
dent-elect. Ron and his wife are hoping for
a son in July.
Ronald and Betty Martin Steinbacheb
welcomed their first child, a daughter. Anne
Louise, on April 14, 1969. Betty is teaching
a Penn State extension course at Williams-
port, Pa. Ron and Betty reside in Hughes-
ville and are still raising appaloosa horses.
Louis J. Miorelli, as manager of the Roof
Deck Division of Joseph Miorelli and Com-
pany, Inc. placed the roof deck on the
Academic Center of Lycoming College, and
also on the new Lycoming County Court
House.
Arnold I. Sherman, who lived for several
years in Argentina and Peni, has become
editor of the Spanish periodical, Lecciones
Cristianas, in the Department of Adult Pub-
lications of the United Methodist Church.
Arnold has been living in Nashville with his
wife since he returned to the states to com-
plete his master's degree at Scarritt College.
Silas D. White recently received his Ph.D.
from Syracuse University. Silas is doing re-
search in sensory physiology at the Upstate
Medical Center at Syracuse, New York.
Chables H. Howe is an ordained deacon
and works for the Trinity United Methodist
Church. He also is substitute teacliing and
coachine; boy's basketball and baseball teams
in the Baltimore area.
Walter (Burt) Richardson is listed in the
1970 edition, "Outstanding Young Men of
America." Burt is in social work in Roches-
ter, and making an outstanding contribution
to the program in that city.
1962
Joseph and Margaret Bonacuse will wel-
come their first child in August. Joe is gen-
eral manager for United Research Homes,
Inc. and resides with his wife in Chani-
bersburg. Pa.
Paul D. Cribble is the supervisory auditor
for the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission.
Paul lives with his wife and daughter in
Pittsburgh, Pa.
Nelson S. Silver is currently the Principal
Planner for Jersey City, New Jersey, and
is busy with a comprehensive physical and
social development plan for that city. Nelson
lives with his wife and two children in East
Brunswick, New Jersey.
Harry and Helen Trayeb Johns welcomed
twins, Judith Ann and Michelle Lee, into
their family. Harry, Helen and the twins
reside in State College, Pa.
Iohn J. Tarditi, Jr. is presently working on
his master's degree in business administra-
tion at Drexel University. John has recently
been elected the first vice president of the
Philadelphia Jaycees.
Richard Schaeffer was named in the latest
edition of "Outstanding Young Men of
America." Dick is assistant professor of sta-
tistics at the University of Florida. He holds
a Ph.D. from Florida State University. His
wife is the former Nancy Gramley '63.
1963
Richard and Donna Deitrick Carr are
presently living in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Dick is a Major in the U. S. Army, and they
expect to remain in Puerto Rico with their
two children for at least another year.
Richard A. Dupra is presently working for
his Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh.
Rick achieved the position as assistant pro-
fessor of psychology at the University of
Pittsburgh in September 1970.
R'^lph and Yvonne Smith Kaiser '64 are
presently spending a three year tour of duty
with the Navy at Atsugi, Japan. They report
they are enjoying the sights and are looking
forward to visiting Expo '70. Ralph plans on
doing a residency when they return to the
states with their daughter in 1971.
Andrew G. Landon was separated as Cap-
tain from the U. S. Air Force in January
1970. Andy was awarded the Air Force
Commendation Medal. He is now working as
a placement manager and living witlr his
wife and two sons in Decatur, Georgia.
Brian and Mabyellen (McMahon '64)
McHugh welcomed their third child, Kevin
Matthew, on August 24, 1969. Brian and
Maryellen are presently residing in Roches-
ter, New York.
Larry and Hilda Scott Kelly announced
the birth of their first child, Robert Thomas,
born July 24, 1969. Larry and Hilda live in
Limon, Colorado.
Thomas and Cozy Senior welcomed their
second child, Shannon, born on February
19, 1970. Tom is working as a district man-
ager for the Coca-Cola Company and living
in Novato, California.
Jere and Dorothy (Corson '65) Kerr
have announced the birth of a son, John
Wesley on January 20, 1970. Jere and Dor-
othy are residing in Camillus, New York.
1964
Susan M. Aikenhead has recently earned
an education specialist degree from Michi-
gan State University.
Bertram Longbotham, Jb. has been ap-
pointed to the list of "Outstanding Young
Men of America" for his many community
activities. He's also a candidate for a mas-
ter's degree at Syracuse University. Bertram
is presently teaching fourth grade and is
living with his wife Mary Ann (Law) and
two children in Ballston Spa, New York.
Walter H. Manning is presently working
for his Ph.D. in audiology and speeech sci-
ences at Michigan State University. Walter
and his wife Ann are living in Okemos,
Michigan.
Bill and Mary Embick Decker are en-
joying a new hfe as Bill has left the business
world to become a golf professional. Bill also
coaches the Villanova golf team.
Carlton J. Fulmer
U. S. Air Force Captain Carlton J. Ful-
mer has been decorated with the Distin-
guished Flying Cross for aerial achievement
in Southeast Asia. The captain rescued a
pilot who had been forced to eject over
enemy territory. Carl is now stationed at
Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.
Grant Berry, Jb. and Frances L. Walker
were married December 20, 1969, in North-
umberland, Pa. Grant is employed as a
guidance counselor at the Williamsport Area
Community College.
Carol Weathered McConville and her
husband George have announced the birth
of their daughter Melissa, born June 26,
1969. They live in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Carol Thomas McClenahan has returned
from a year in Seoul, Korea, where her hus-
band was stationed with the Army. They

Cynthia Anderson Ghaznavi has again
been given an award for graduate study in
Russian at Bryn Mawr College. She holds a
master's from Villanova.
Gerard and Fbancine Keller Casius wel-
comed a daughter on February 22, 1970.
They are residing in St. Maarten, Netherland
Antilles.
Reed Mebino was awarded a fellowship
grant for advanced theological study by the
Episcopal Church Foundation.
Thom.as a. Paternostbo is currently en-
tered in the race for the office of State As-
sembly representing the Steuben County Dis-
trict of New York. Tom was also recently
honored by the Prattsburg Jaycees by being
.selected as the club's "Outstanding Citizen
of the Year." Tom and his wife welcomed a
new daughter, Krista Lynne on April 11,
1970. The Patcrnostro's have two other chil-
dren and live in Prattsburg, where Tom is
Elementary Principal of the Prattsburg Cen-
tral School.
Mrs. Martin Sher
Congratulations to Martin and Carole Sher
on their marriage Feliruary 14, 1970. Martin
is an oral surgery resident at the Brooklyn
Jewish Hospital and Medical Center, train-
ing in maxillo-facial rehabilitation. Carole is
a counselor in the methadone program for
drug addicts and a graduate of Penn State
University. Martin received his D.D.S. from
Temple.
Ed and Jeanne Yobk Ristau welcomed
Matthew Paul, born December 16, 1969.
Ed is a resident manager in sales with Far-
rington Mfg. Co. They live in Fairport,
New York.
Carol Oot Lillard reports she is "em-
ployed at home" with a son Michael Stewart
born January 3, 1970. Her hu.sband will fin-
ish his second master's in library science and
in June, will assume a position in the library
at Furman University in Greenville, S. C.
Russell L. Bobkoski directs occupational
health activities in Region IV (16 counties
in Central Pa.) as the Industrial Hygienist
with the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Congratulations to Russ and Linda on the
birth of their second daughter, Annette, born
November 25, 1969.
1965
Murray Rosen was pictured along with four
other District Managers of the H, J. Heinz
Company in the magazine "Careers in Busi-
ness/70." The caption used in the article
read "Sales-minded Graduates: In a Hurry."
These men are! Each District Manager has
responsibility for 2 to 4 Area Managers, 12
to 2.5 Sales Representatives and the company
business in a major part of the United
States. Murray is District Manager of the
Boston area and lives in Lexington, Massa-
chusetts.
Ronald T. Reitz received his doctorate on
March 14, 1970, from PSU. Ron was a grad-
uate fellow for three years, his major study
was mental retardation and his minor study
was educational psychology. He is presently
the assistant professor of Special Education
at Eastern Montana College. Ron is plan-
ning research concerned with the learning
problems of the American Indian child. Ron
and his wife are presently residing in Bill-
ings, Montana.
Curtis K. Leech presently a graduate Re-
search Fellow working toward his Ph.D.
from the University of Waterloo has accept-
ed a position at the University of Saskatche-
wan as an assistant professor of psychology.
Curt, his wife, Paula (Johnson) and their
son, Scott, will move to Saskatoon, Canada
in August 1970.
Donald and Gail ( Kleintob ) Whitebread
announced the birth of a daughter on De-
cember 2.3, 1969. Don and Gail reside in
Richboro, Pa.
Clemens and Katherine ( Satterwaite
'64) Heick are expecting their first child.
Kathy and Clemens are residing in Home-
wood, Alabama where Kathy is a social
worker for the Children's Aid Society and
Clemens is a sales representative.
Philip Anders and his wife, Nancy, have
announced the birth of a girl, Debra Lynn,
on March 12, 1970. Phil was promoted to
Assistant Treasurer on January 1, 1970, for
the Conshohocken Federal Savings and Loan
Association.
Robert and Judith (Hale '64) Hancox
welcomed a girl, Jennifer Susan, on March
28, 1970. Bob received his master's degree
in business administration from Fairleigh
Dickinson University in 1969, and is work-
ing for the State Farm Insurance Company
and as an instructor of industrial relations
at the graduate School of Business, Seton
Hall University.
Carol Durrwachter Empet has been ap-
pointed instructor in English and French at
the Scranton Campus of PSU. Carol also
spent two weeks in Europe in August, '69.
Robert and Mary Ann (Coder '63) Mc-
CoNNELL had their first child, Arthur Harold,
on April .5, 1969. Bob is working as a control
buyer for Sears.
Thomas Butler and his wife, Evelyn, wel-
comed a son, Timothy Scott, on December
23, 1969. Tom received his master's degree
in chemistry from the State University of
New York at Buffalo in June 1969. He is
presently an instructor of chemistry at PSU.
Bettina and Kenneth Babtlow have an-
nounced the birth of a son, Mark Thomas,
on January 6, 1970. Ken is presently em-
ployed as a Senior Associate Programmer
for IBM Corporation in Owego, New York.
1966
Diane Kreidler Miller and her husband
are both employed in the laboratory at the
Williamsport Ho.spital. They have one son
and are expecting a second child this sum-
mer.
Patricia L. Stere is presently working for
her master's degree at Union Theological
Seminary and Columbia University. She ex-
pects to receive her degree in June 1970.
Andy and Joan (Kipp) Lunt welcomed a
boy, Robert Kipp, on February 12, 1970.
Andy and Joan are residing in Madison, N. J.
James T. Brendle received his master's
degree in public administration in December,
1969, from the University of Arizona. Jim is
working as a personnel analyst for the city
of Tucson, Arizona.
Richard D. Bates successfully passed the
Certified Public Accountant's exam in Penn-
sylvania in May, 1969. Rick is now a .senior
staff accountant with an international
C. P. A. firm.
Paul and Barbara (Schucker) Schwartz
welcomed their first child, Paul Travis, on
March 31, 1970. Paul and Barbara are
presently residing in Glendora, California.
Bob and Lanee ( Shipe ) Howell are both
working on their master's degree at the
University of Maryland. Lanee teaches first
and second grade and reports that Carol
Freeman Beemer '67 was called in as a
substitute teacher one day much to Lanee's
surprise. She also reports that Michael
Cardy is the new assistant minister of St.
Andrew's Methodist Church and that both
Carol and Mike are attending American
University.
Richard Young is one of thirty-one teachers
now involved in a new "Open Space" con-
cept in teaching at the Crofton Elementary
School in Crofton, Maryland. The school
began with 1,000 youngsters, a lot of open
space, but not much in the way of equip-
ment and materials. Dick previously taught
in Millersville, Maryland.
Allen B. Baker
Allen B. Baker spoke to the Lycoming Col-
lege French Club on graduate education and
travel abroad on March 23rd at the invita-
tion of Dr. Eric Kadler. Allen plans to teach
Enghsh in Switzerland and travel before
returning to Yale in the fall to prepare for
his Ph.D. oral examinations, scheduled in
the spring of 1971.
Edward Cooxer has taken a position as
representative with the Presbyterian Min-
ister's Fund. He will cover the State of
Georgia from his Atlanta office. He will re-
ceive the master of divinity degree from
Vanderbilt Divinity School in June.
1967
Christian Jetter and his wife Nancy wel-
comed Christian John, Jr. on March 16,
1970. They live in Williamstown, N. J.
Dale Krapf is the secretary-treasurer of
George Krapf, Jr. & Sons, Inc. and man-
ages 120 school buses. He has two sons
and lives in Coatsville, Pa.
Robert Louer is employed by the West
Genesee Central High School and lives in
Baldwinsville, New York.
Stephen Manning is presently working on
his master's degree in education at Bucknell
University. He is employed as a fifth grade
teacher in South Williamsport Area School
District. His wife is the former Sally Rosen-
stock '68, and they have one son.
Kester and Jltoy Moore Sobers welcomed
Michael Jude on Nov. 13, 1969. Kester is
continuing his work at Gettysburg Theologi-
cal Seminary, and they live in Harrisburg.
Jim and Dawn Dunning Palmquist an-
nounced the birth of James Douglas on
December 30, 1969.
Barbara Jean Lowell earned her master's
degree from the University of Pittsburgh
in April 1969. She was immediately em-
ployed by Presbyterian University Ho.spital
in Pittsburgh as a social worker.
Judy Siebert reported that her apartment
caught fire in January, but since she was not
at home at the time, she was not hurt. While
repairs are being made, she is living at the
Was.saic State School where .she works.
Elizabeth Cave is employed as a social
worker by the Bureau of Children's Services
in Newton, New Jersey.
Richard Mann and Evalyne Curtis were
married October 4, 1969. Carol Miller
Lane '68 was matron of honor. Rick and
Evalyne are residing in Parkesburg, Pa.
where Evalyne teaches 4th grade.
Ruth A. Hippel graduated from Westmin-
ster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey
in May 1969. She is now music director at
St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Hanover, Pa.
Carl W. Heide and Nancy Gallagher were
married May 24, 1969. Carl is presently a
1st Lt. in the U. S. Army serving in Vietnam.
Richard Wagner is assistant secretary and
a member of the Board of Directors of the
Jacob Gehron Company, Inc., Williamsport.
He is married to the former Lucinda Sny-
der '68. They welcomed a daughter, Kristine
Elizabeth, on September 3, 1969.
First Lt. Terrance H. Fregly and Andrea
E. Hall were married February 14, 1970,
at Elgin Air Force Base, Ft. Walton Beach,
Florida.
1st Lt. and Mrs. Terrunce 11. Fregly

Linda Cooney was the featured artist in
March at the James V. Brown Library, Wil-
lianisport. She exhibited twenty watercolor,
casein, oil and collage works. Linda teaches
at the Cochran Elementary School, Wil-
liamsport.
Penny English Yonkers holds the title of
"Supervising Laboratory Technician" at the
Microbiological Association, Bethesda, Mary-
land. She sets up, supervises and performs
experiments ( virology ) concerning tobacco
smoke and its components and effects on
tissue culture. She and her husband live in
Greenbelt, Maryland.
Doug Keiper is teaching history in the
Newark Valley Central School, Newark Val-
ley, New York. He is also head wrestling
coach and assistant track coach. He is work-
ing on his master's degree.
Susan Fielding Roese is the art instructor
at the West Side Area Vocational Technical
High School and lives in Shavertown, Pa.
She and her husband Robert are awaiting
their first child expected in August.
Melvin Fleming is teaching mathematics
in the Penns Valley Area Schools while
working on his master's degree at Penn
State in the field of education with emphasis
on math and computer science. Mel and his
wife, the former Harriet Hooven '69 have
one son.
Sandra Fry was married May 16, 1969 to
Charles \V. Probst, IL She is employed at
Westmoreland Hospital as a psychological
con.sultant in the out-patient clinic. Sandra
and her husband are living in Finleyville,
Pa. while he is in the service.
Sgt. Howard W. Probst has been assigned
to the 604th Military Airhft Support Squad-
ron, Clark Air Base, Republic of the Phihp-
pines.
John and Natalie Haines welcomed their
first child, Stephanie Lou, on December 17,
1969. John is a teacher and coach in Davids-
ville, Pa.
Jill A. Hagen, along with being a mental
health worker and group specialist, is em-
ployed parttime as a hvpnotherapist-techni-
cian to instruct clients while using hypnosis.
Van Dyke Billings, Jr. and J.\net L. Aldo
were married March 21, 1970. Janet is a
research technician at Cornell University and
Van is a graduate student at Cornell, study-
ing neurobiology.
Janet Brion Swanson is teaching in the
J. George Becht Elementary School, Wil-
liamsport. Janet attended Lycoming from
1948 to 1951, but returned to get her de-
gree with the Class of 1968.
Tem Bulleit Tipton lives in Beeville,
Texas. She is married to a navy officer
who is training to be a jet pilot. In less than
a year, they have lived in Mississippi, Flori-
da, and Texas. Tem received a master's in
library science from the University of Illi-
nois last June and does substitute teaching.
Lt. Richard A, Lewis graduated from pilot
training school at Craig AFB, Alabama,
and is now training in a KC 135 at Castle
Air Force Base, California. He will then be
stationed in Texas for four years. We con-
gratulate Dick and Joyce ( Herron '70 ) on
the birth of their .second daughter Mona
Michele, December 16, 1969.
Donna and Clayton Thomas called to our
attention the misspelling of their daughter's
name in the previous issue of the "News-
letter." Her name is Kirstie Jeanne. She
was christened at Christmas and her God-
parents are Bob and Sally Walton Wal-
ker '69.

John D. Zettelmoyer has been awarded
the U. S. Air Force silver pilot wings upon
graduation at Webb Air Force Ba.se, Texas.

A. Scott Fink and Mary Ann Falcone were
married August 23, 1969. Scott is working
as an account representative for the tele-
phone directory.
Richard G. Hammell and Susan F. Beau-
VAis were married January 24, 1970, at the
First Presbyterian Church in Boonton, New
Jersey. Both Rick and Sue are graduate stu-
dents at Lehigh University.
David D. Gathman and Beatrice E. Baibd
were married March 20, 1970, in Fair Ha-
ven, New Jersey. Beatrice is employed as an
elementary school teacher in Levittown and
is studying for her master's degree at Tren-
ton State University. Dave is employed as
an accountant.
Kenne and Sue Arnholt welcomed an 8 lb.
boy. Jay Crispin, on December 5, 1969. Ken
is an 11th grade U. S. History teacher in
Lansdale, Pa.
Robert C. Coleman and Cathleen J.
Powell '68 were married June 28, 1969,
at Lehman Memorial United Methodist
Church in Hatboro, Pa. Richard Str.\ughn
and Charles Usmar, III were ushers. Cathy
is employed by the Bureau of Children's
Services in Orange, New Jersey, and Bob is
attending Drew Theology School. He is the
assistant minister at Bishop James United
Methodist Church in Basking Ridge, N. J.
Sandra Fbeitag is employed by the Oyster
Bay-East Norwich Public Schools as a fourth
grade teacher. She lives in Hicksville, N. Y.
Scott Giffohd is working as a programmer
for Federal Systems, a division of I. B. M.
His last position was with Eye Research
Foundation where he trained monkeys ( seri-
ously! ) for use in vision research. He found
they see as well as or better than we do
( colors and acuity ) . Scott lives in Gaithers-
burg, Maryland.
John Harrison is in Officer Candidate
School at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, in
the U. S. Army.
Daniel Hulitt and Donna Kind were mar-
ried August 16, 1969, in Haddonfield, New
Jersey by Dan's father. John Lutz and Dan
Burroughs were ushers and William
Moyle '71 was soloist. Dan receives his
master's degree from Springfield College in
June.
Martha Mahlke and Spence Grayson
were married August 30, 1969, in Crest-
wood, New York. Ushers included Richard
Strauchn and John Filiberto '71. Martha
graduated from the Kansas City College of
Medical and Dental assistants in Kansas
City, Missouri in August and is working
towards completing her internship period as
a medical assistant. Spence is attending the
University of Missouri at Kansas City and
is a member of the National Guard of Kan-
sas. They are living in Kansas City.
William R. Miller is serving as a psychia-
tric aide in the research and treatment —
Mendota State Hospital in Madison, Wis-
consin, as a con.scientious objector on alter-
native service.
Richard I. Mulleb is taking a master's
degree program at night at the University
of Pennsylvania while teaching Junior High
English. He lives in West Chester, Pa.
Kirk Nevius has completed the Pay and
Disbursing Specialist Course at Fort Ben-
jamin Harrison, Indiana. He completed his
basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. He is
married to the former Rosalee Casper.
Bill Ohl is the senior methods engineer
with the Bendi.v Corporation of Sidney, New
York. The Ohl's reside in Guilford, N. Y.
Joan Purpur.\ married Joseph L. Wood on
October 4, 1969. Joan is a caseworker with

DUNSTON NAMED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
In addition to maintaining a private
practice in Philadelphia, Dr. Dunston
is now an associate professor of occlu-
sion at the University of Pennsylvania
School of Dental Medicine. He attend-
ed the April meeting of the Board of
Directors. He also will be an e.\-officio
member of the Executive Board of the

R\LPH (Doc) and Joan Palmquist Turnek
attended the Syracuse Ahunni CKib Meet-
ing recently. "Doc" is working on his Ph.D.
at Syracuse University.
John Otto is presently in the U. S. M. C.
at Camp Pendleton, California, working as
a personnel administrator clerk. He married
the former M.ary Ingham '70 in Swathmore,
Pa. June 14, 1969. Ellen Moyle "70 was
maid of honor; Da\id Harris was an u.sher
and Ken Wertley was best man.
Dr. Walter T. Dunston '57 was
elected for a three-year term as the
Alumni Representative on the Board
of Directors of Lycoming College. Pa-
tricia MacBride Krauser '68 and James
Troisi '59 were also included on the
ballot on which 1,244 alumni cast
their vote.
Dr. Dunston attended Lycoming
College from 1953 to 1956. After grad-
uating from Temple University Dental
School in 1960 with the Doctor of
Dental Surgery Degree, he served in
the U. S. Navy Dental Corps until
1965 when he was discharged with the
rank of Lt. Commander. He has
served as an instructor at Temple Uni-
versity Dental School.
