The 1978-79 soccer team compiled an outstanding
record both as a team and as individuals. At the 1979
Sports Banquet awards were given to Chris Cattaneo,
Best Offensive Player; Jorge Fuchs, Best Defensive
Player; and Jim Penney, The Hustle Award. Chris
earlier in the year was chosen to play for the Atlanta
Chiefs. Congratulations to an outstanding TWC soc-

Halloween Arts And

Crafts Carnival

Every year the Athens
Community sponsors an
Arts and Crafts Carnival
on Halloween. Various
clubs and organizations
from TWC set up booths
at this carnaval. This year
the carnival ran two
nights, and everyone will
tell you "it was a suc-
cess."

ii

You're A Good Man,
Charlie Brown."

The College Choir was responsible
for the TWC production of "You're
a Good Man. Charlie Brown". Al-
though the cast was small, with only
six people appearing on stage, every
member of the Choir was at work
behind the scenes.

-I

52

Members of the cast were Karen Higgins
as Peppermint Patty, Mike Jackson as Linus,
Tim Perrin as Scliroeder, Tim Porter as
Charlie Brown, and Melanie Wert as Lucy.
Charlie Currin was the pianist.

53

The Christmas season was celebrated in
early December when the faculty & staff
members of TWC and the men of TWC were
invited to the girls' dorm for an OPEN
HOUSE! Everyone had fun, and the girls
worked hard in cleaning their rooms in hopes
that a special male person would visit.

Christmas Fun!

Mrs. Anderson has fun opening a Christmas gift from "her
girls".

54

A Christmas cake? The choir
sure enjoyed this one. a surprise
thank you from Mr. McGill for a
job well done fall quarter.

Spring Tour Means . . .

... a trip to D.C., singing in the Washington
Cathedral, a tour of the Capital Building, making
new friends, growing closer to old friends, and in
general a wonderful experience for all. At least
that's what it meant for the 1979 TWC choir which
spent a week singing its way through Virginia, D.C.,
and Maryland.

Good competition, good food, and good fellowship
meant fun for the Greeks at Wesleyan April 20th.
Greek Field Day consisting of such events as the egg
toss, the three-legged race, and arm wrestling was won
by Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Sig Ep little
sisters. First place trophies for the Greek Bowl went to
Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Judges for the two events were Charlie Bellows and
Brenda Paul for field day and David Duncan and
Jeffrey Folks for Greek Bowl.

Senior Reception
And Graduation

MB

June 8 and 9 were special
days for TWCs 1979 gradu-
ates. The night of the eighth
they were entertained by the
choir and various small
groups within the music de-
partment at a reception giv-
en in their honor. The next
day was graduation day, a
day to which each senior
had looked forward with
both anticipation and sad-
ness.

74

Commencement awards
for the highest overall GPA
in the graduating class were
given to Melanie Wert and
Benny Matherly. The Town-
send Awards, given to the
seniors chosen as most re-
presentative of Tennessee
Wesleyan, were given to
Melanie Wert and Judd
Da ugherty.
