PREFACE.

Tue object of this Nomenclature is to present a Catalogue
of the well-established Species of Mollusca, with references
to where they are described and figured, and to the most
important synonyma; to give a List of the Specimens con-
tained in the Museum collection, with an indication of their
habitat and origin; and to point out the Desiderata of that
collection at the period of publication.

The list must only be considered as prefatory to a more
comprehensive Catalogue.
