The Genealogy of M. G. Penfield, dictated, two weeks before 
his death to Frank E. Teeple, and by him written down. 

Waukon, Iowa, 1893, June 28. 
This the genealogy of M. G. Penfield. He was born at 
Camden, N. Y., Feb. 7th, 1810. His father's (died July 7. 
1821) name was William Penfield. His mother's name was 
Eunice Penfield. His father and mother were first cousins. 
Her father's name was Nathaniel Penfield. She was raised 
at Middletown, Conn. Wm. Penfield's father's name was 
Jesse. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war for 7 
years.* Helped to take Quebec, Ticonderoga, Long Island, 
and sot. He died at 72 years}. Wm. Penfield died of 
yellow fever at 34 years of age; was buried in the Atlantic 

ocean. Major Gay Penfield was the oldest child of Win. and 
Eunice Penfield. The five were all hoys. After his father's 
death his mother married Warren Preston, by whom she 
had 2 children, Henry and Hannah. They were twins. She 
died at Pine, Grove, N. Y., in the year 1837, in October. M. 
G. Penfield and Mary Ann Swan were married April 14, 
1835 at York Mills, N. Y., to whom 10 children were born; 
5 died in infancy *****. 

His children having died previous to this, he made his 
home with his grandchildren, most of the time with F. E. 
Teeple, who is his oldest grandson." 

*Only 3 years. Enlisted Feb. or Mar. 1778 as Pvt. in 
Capt. Belden Wadsworth's Company, Shelden's Light 
Dragoons, in Connecticut. Applied for pension Apr. 13, 
1818, from Oneida Co., N. Y. Records l T . S. Bur. Pensions. 

tRecord of his military service is contained in "Con- 
necticut in the Revolution," pp. 43, 274, 402, 644. 

tHe died at age of 75. Born in Plymouth, Conn., 1759, 
d. Camden, N. Y., Dec. 18, 1834.

Fayette County, Iowa, appeared Samuel Wood Geiser, 
Quaker, to me personally known, and solemnly affirmed the 
truth of each and every statement of the foregoing Gene- 
alogy. And he does further declare that any and all 
manuscripts and unpublished records from which he has 
drawn are and have been generally accepted as true and 
authentic; to the best of his knowledge and belief. 

Witness my hand and notarial seal this sixth day of 
October, in the year of Our Lord, 1917.

A. Teeple Geiser, and as material rounds itself out for com- 
pleted studies, other lines will be taken up and dealt with. 
Lines which will shortly be published in this preliminary 
form are the Teeple, Johnson, Vrooman, Jesse Penfield, 
Swan, Resseguie (Bontecou), Fuller, Marsh, Disbrow (both 
Joseph and Nathaniel), Bates, etc. Genealogists and others 
who are interested in this family will confer an appreciated 
favor upon the editor by sending him all information they 
can possess on these lines.
