The Genealogy of M. G. Penfield, dictated, two weeks before
his death to Frank E. Teeple, and by him written down.

This the genealogy of M. G. Penfield. He was born at
Camden, N. Y., Feb. 7th, 1810. His father's (died July 7.
1821) name was William Penfield. His mother's name was
Eunice Penfield. His father and mother were first cousins.
Her father's name was Nathaniel Penfield. She was raised
at Middletown, Conn. Wm. Penfield's father's name was
Jesse. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war for 7
years.* Helped to take Quebec, Ticonderoga, Long Island,
and sot. He died at 72 years}. Wm. Penfield died of
yellow fever at 34 years of age; was buried in the Atlantic
ocean. Major Gay Penfield was the oldest child of Win. and
Eunice Penfield. The five were all hoys. After his father's
death his mother married Warren Preston, by whom she
had 2 children, Henry and Hannah. They were twins. She
died at Pine, Grove, N. Y., in the year 1837, in October. M.
G. Penfield and Mary Ann Swan were married April 14,
1835 at York Mills, N. Y., to whom 10 children were born;
5 died in infancy *****.
His children having died previous to this, he made his
home with his grandchildren, most of the time with F. E.
Teeple, who is his oldest grandson."
*Only 3 years. Enlisted Feb. or Mar. 1778 as Pvt. in
Capt. Belden Wadsworth's Company, Shelden's Light
Dragoons, in Connecticut. Applied for pension Apr. 13,
1818, from Oneida Co., N. Y. Records l T . S. Bur. Pensions.

tHe died at age of 75. Born in Plymouth, Conn., 1759,

authentic; to the best of his knowledge and belief.
