Woody Hunt Stadium underwent some changes in the offseason.
Improvements to the Clubhouse were made with the help of Ms. Jeanette
Rudy, for whom the clubhouse is now named. Also, new seating was
installed in the stands, a great improvement over the old bleachers.

Labry School of Business

fi

For nearly thirty years, Cumberland University has beef
educating people about the growing field of business. Yi
as a school have always made a strong effort to evol'
with the business world in every way possible. In
spring of 2002, the Labry School of Business made a hu;
leap toward the future. With the newly constructed Labi
Hall and the installation of a state-of-the-art Wirelei
Network, we have been able to train students to the mor
modem use of technology in business. We also understan
the need to expose students to the multiple sectors c
business such as; Accounting, Management, Marketing, th
social science of Economics, Entrepreneurship, Small an
Corporate Business, and of course. Computer Informatio
Systems. One of the main goals of the Labry School c
Business is to gear our education to the services sector c
business as opposed to the old-fashioned manufacturini i
sector that was taught in the past As a school, the facultj j
as well as the students takes a vow to the continuin,
education on the growing trends in the field of business. I
is our pledge to be up-date on all developments in everj*,
area of the business world.

Jeanette C Rudy School of Nursing

Nursing Education... The Way It Should Be
The Jeanette Rudy School of Nursing

Today's health care delivery system requries nurses with a strong
foundation in liberal arts along with the discipline-specific
knowledge of the nursing process. At Cumberland University, we
educate professional nurses who can deliver increasingly complex
care in a variety of settings, to diverse patient populations. Faculty
in the School of Nursing demonstrate a broad range of experience
and interests that serve to strengthen student growth and
development

Nursing has often been described as both an art and a science.
Nursing science refers to our knowledge base and the art of
nursing is often viewed as the creative application of that
knowledge base to individuals, families, and communities. Few
disciplines are as demanding as nursing-none are more rewarding.

The Jeanette Rudy School of Nursing at Cumberland University is
nationally accredited by the National League for Nursing
Accrediting Commission and is approved by the Tennessee Board
of Nursing.

School of Education

The School of Education offers undergraduate and
graduate courses that fulfill the professional
education requirements for teacher licensure in
both elementary and secondary education and
that enable students to develop competencies and
skills needed by beginning teachers. Effective
teachers must have a thorough knowledge of
subject matter, as well as a complete
understanding of the principles of student growth
and development, of diverse learning styles, and
of effective teaching methods. The combination of
the General Education Core (GEC), major
requirements, and the professional education core
curriculum assures that students are prepared with
a broad background in the liberal arts and
sciences and with a mastery of the subject matter
in the major teaching field.

The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences equips the graduate with a
well-rounded education for the service-oriented society of the
twenty-first century. Recent surveys of CEO's in the United States
have repeatedly shown that they seek three things in today's
graduates: people who can think; people who can make decisions;
and people who can communicate. The integrative and
interdisciplinary approach taken in the School of Liberal Arts and
Sciences, while providing for concentration in an academic area, is
designed to develop these very skills.

Every graduate in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences has
multiple opportunities for experiential learning. These experiences
include short-term opportunities and internships. Students learn by
doing and experiencing, as well as by reading and researching.
Varied experiences move learning from the theoretical to the actual
and practical. They open students' minds to whole new ways of
thinking, seeing things, and integrating knowledge. Such learning
helps the student better understand himself, his society, his history,
and his culture. It provides the student with practical understandings
and skills for entry into the changing job market environment, as well
as providing an excellent base for graduate studies leading to
specialization in such fields as law, medicine, business, human
relations, politics, social service, and ministry.
