PRAYER.
0 Almighty and Merciful God, the Protector of all tliat
trust in Thee, accept, we beseech Thee, our humble inter-
cessions for our Brethren, Thy servants, now fighting the
battles of our country. Protect and defend them with
Thine Almighty power. Give them true courage in dan-
ger, and mercifulness in Aictory. Be pleased, O Lord, to
succour and relieve the sick and wounded, and to bless
the means used for their recovery. Grant that all they who
fall in battle may depart this life in the true faith of Christ.
Minister abundantly the consolations of thy Holy Spirit to
the fatherless children and widows, and to all who are in
sorrow or anxiety ; and in Thine own good time, restore to
all the nations of the world the blessings of peace. Grant
this, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of Thy dear Son, the
Prince of Peace, onr Saviour .lesus Christ. Amen.

O eternal Lord God, mIio alone spreadcst out the hea-

the waters with bounds, until day and night come to an
end ; be pleased to receive, into thy Almighty and most
gracious protectioji, the persons of thy servants, the officers
and crews of our fleet, and of all other vessels now ensajred
in active service. Preserve them from the dangers of the
sea and from the violence of the enemy ; give them victory
in their various conflicts, and safety and success in all their
undertakings, that they may be a safe guard unto the Con-
federate States of America, :ind a security for such as pass
on the seas upon their lawful occasions, may they return
in safety to enjoy the blessings of the land, with the fruits
of their labour, and with a thankful remembrance of thy
mercies, to praise and gloriiy Thy Holy Name through
Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
