UNIVERSITY

A quotation by noted author, Father Richard John Neuhaus, is particularly
appropriate at this time. He wrote that: "each moment in time is equally close to
God's purpose, and God's purpose is equally close to each moment. But we are to
read the signs of the times to discern the obligations, limits and opportunities of
our own moment."

As graduates in the ye<u- 2001, this is your moment. Like those who have walked
the dais before you, many opportunities await you, but the signs are not the same.

The world of 195 1 was vastly different from the world of today, and it was
impossible for the members of our pioneer class to envision or foresee the events
and accomplishments of the past 50 years. Obviously it is just as impossible for
you to predict what lies ahead. Because your Salve Regina education has provided
you with a firm foundation of values inspired by faith, trust and the vision of the
Sisters of Mercy, you can confidently proceed on your journey along the pathway
to the future, well-equipped to meet all challenges.

Seize your moment, lending your talents to the world as you give generously from
your heart. I have every confidence that you will succeed.

Congratulations.

From The Editor

"If you have a head on your shoulders and
feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in
any direction you choose." - Dr. Seuss

When I think of graduation I think of this
quote because all of you are now beginning
your lives in "the real world." This year I
wanted to publish a yearbook that would
be filled with great memories of Salve.
I think that this yearbook has accomplished
that. Not very often do we appreciate our
beautiful surroundings. I hope that this
yearbook has captured some of your favor-
ite scenes.

There are so many people that have helped
in the making of this book. I would like to
thank Norval Garnett, our Jostens rep, for helping
every step of the way, John Corbett for all of the
graduation photos and most of our senior portraits,
all seniors who submitted candid photos, and finally
Michelle and Kristin in the Alumni Office for all
their encouragement and support. Thanks to all!

May all the seniors who have graduated be success-
ful and happy in all of your future endeavors. Good
luck and thanks for making 2001 a great year!
