INTRODUCTION 

Patep is an Austronesian language of the Buang language family 
in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea. It is part of the Mumeng 
dialect chain and is spoken by approximately 1,200 speakers. Most 
of these speakers live in five villages in proximity to the Lae-Wau 
road.
