militia now encamped at Manchester MO, co most respectfully ana earnest!)
petition your excellency to permit us to 30 to our nomes and attend to ou:
ordinary business meeting tnree or four times a week for tne purposes of dri 1 i,
read;/' and willing to gc tvher our services are needed and we are cabled upon by

ot our company are mechanics jr farmers, who have "and rented for which we will

going to waste for the want of our labor, neither will we be able to pay the taxd
for which our country calls en us that tne rebellion may be put down. Now si"
we have been quartered here in Manchester fo R cne month ana as far as we can
see have done our count r.. no good while on tne ether rand we experience
service, we could attend tc cur ordinary business and keep ourselves just as well
posted in military tactics as- we do here. Arc we would further state that there

physician, surgeon, or any medicines in z^r ramp and that our wives and childrer
are heloless at home by themselves, ana must soon come to destitution for the
