In the summertime of days
A man is nothing more
Than a tear in some old year
That was cast aside by God.

In Memon'am

Phillip Russell

In the summertime of days
We are as we must be
Shadows all on our way to fall
If not eternity.

And if we must look for heaven
Then heaven must surely be
In arms that are warm
And. smiles if they tender be.

In the summertime of days
I'll ask for nothing more
Than a face and a quiet place
That was cast aside by God.

DEDICATION

Stosag 1969

JAMES E. MULCAHEY

112

Jim Mulcahey is presented his award by Editor Cal Saulnier.

Jim Mulcahey graduated from Stockbridge in 1950, later attending the University of Massa-
chusetts where he was extremely popular and still takes a considerable interest in the
University of Massachusetts Alumni Association. Jim was an Aboriculture Major and while
in Alaska during 1961, he fell from a tree and broke his back. Far from slowing him down,
he is now one of the most active figures on this campus! At present Jim is serving as
treasurer to the Stockbridge Alumni Association, having been responsible for organizing
the 50th Anniversary Stockbridge Alumni Directory. In addition to his insurance business
he is involved in many areas of public service, including the newly formed Kiwanis Club
in Amherst. His activity in the Stockbridge fraternity. Alpha Tau Gamma, has taken the
form of advisor to the local chapter. We, the yearbook staff feel that this is devotion, above
and beyond the call of duty, and would like to recognize his work on behalf of Stockbridge
with this dedication.

After opening the season with a loss to the University of Massachusetts
Varsity, the Stockbridgemen dropped only one more match during the season
to a strong M.I.T. Freshman Team at Cambridge. Northeastern University, af-
ter postponing the scheduled date of our match, failed to appear on the agreed
revised date and our team members fired for scoies under match conditions.
American targets were used in the matches against the University of Massa-
chusetts Freshmen and Springfield College. All other matches being fired on
the International targets.

Looking Back . . . And Ahead, Hopefully

This year's Stosag yearbook has been an attempt by my-
self and my staff to portray Stockbridge as we have experi-
enced it. It has moved away from the traditional Aggie year-
book, but again this is only a reflection of my personal feelings
for and about Stockbridge.

I would very much like to thank my staff, which included
Patt Trusselle, Jean Davis, Cindy Fournier, Fred Gardner, Ed
Bousquet, and Nate Bacon, for sticking around and doing the
job when it had to be done. I would also like to thank my year-
book advisor Dr. George Goddard, Dave Lombard, Dave
Cooper, Mrs. Frey, Lennie and Donna Townend, for lending
great amounts of time, assistance, and moral support when I
needed it.

Lastly I would like to thank most sincerely my good friend
Paul Parent. He probably worked the longest and the hardest
of anybody and without whom I couldn't have done it. Thank
you all.

Signed, Calvin T. Saulnier
