A system of obscure and unprofitable doctrine regard-
ing mysticism is much studied among the Telugtis.
In such reveries, ' Vamana has indulged at praat lenght
and there his meaning is often do^ubtfuL : f^
such verses I have retained only a few of the easiest.
- 1829
The reveries contained in this chapter are of a
strangely abstruse nature. - 1824

Books in Brief : (Telugu)
Bliarata Tattva Sastra Parisilanamu
By Tripuraneni Venkateswara Rao
(Navodaya Publishers^
The book under notice attempts to examine the philoso-
phical thought of Ancient India upto the time of Sri Samkara.
The latest literature on the subject such as the works of Dr. S.
Radha Krishnan and other scholars, have been consulted and indeed
even criticised. Especially noteworthy is the examination of the
claim that Indian Philosophy is different from the Western.
The author shows a grasp of the essential features of the Indian
systems of thought. His knowledge of Western Philosophers has
also been of great help. The ^interpretation of History and
Philosophy by Marxists has had the effect of kindling interest in
the shape and movement of Indian Philosophical movements. The
book is well worth serious study by students who would like to
know something of the thought of India, though they would be
encouraged to go deeper to the original works of the ancients for
a real insight into their ideas.
K. C. VARADACHARI
Professor of Philosophy & Comparative Religion.
President, All India Philosophical Congrers.
