The road goes ever on, and on
from the door where it began.
Now, far ahead, the Road has gone,
And I must follow it, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And wither then? I cannot say.
J.R.R. Tolkien

Surely Brick and mortar can-
not live and breathe; but just
as surely, this brick and mortar
will allow for as deep a breath
of educational inquiry as we
could desire.

Needing a quiet place
To collect my thoughts
I took a walk
Alone.

And saw reflections of beauty

Let us seek to invoke the
wonders of science, instead
of its terrors. Together let
us explore the stars
conquer the deserts
eradicate disease
top the ocean depth
and encourage the arts and
commerce

J. F. Kennedy

In the morning of my life
I shall look to the sunrise,
At a moment in my life
when the world is new.

16

The Class of 1975

Although a feeling of apathy often hung over
Boston State, there were certain events which
helped us overcome this atmosphere. Throughout
the following pages are photos which will help to
preserve those years. So much has happened in the
past four years revolving around us, possibly
changing our lives in some way or another. To
those of us that were affected, even in the smallest
way, it is hoped that these photos will serve to
remind us of the times that were. Remember, we
got from Boston State only that which we put into
it.

The Student Government Association of any college is considered to be the
political voice representative of the students. Although the 1974-1975 council was
criticized for many things, several accomplishments were made in both serious and
social areas. Great efforts were made in the field of collective bargaining which is
one of the strongest bases of power that students can have. Day care was well
funded, as were both of the campus newspapers. The Council supported the Boycott
of the Cafeteria and in the spring conducted, through the election committee,
perhaps the most efficient and honestly run elections in Boston State's history. On
the social side, there were movies every month, a Booze Cruise, a Day at the Celtics,
Fifties Dances, numerous speakers, and an un/orgeftabJe Christmas Party, plus an
evening with the Amazing Kreskin. It is difficult to accomplish anything on the short
span of time a council has to work; however, through efficient leadership goals can
be achieved.

Organized at BSC in 1967, and formally chartered by
the American Chemical Society in 1974, the purpose of
the Chemistry Club is to unite those students of the
College who are interested in Chemistry and related
sciences. The activities of the Chemistry Club will
include field trips, discussions, speakers as well as

promote the awareness of the problems within the
Fire Dept., and to improve the professional status
of the firefighting profession. These goals have been
carried out by a series of weekly speakers,
seminars, projects and culminated at year's end by
a Banquet.

The Psychology Club functions to bring students and
faculty members together in an informal, social setting,
and stimulate further interest in psychology. The
Psychology Club is known for providing excellent
speakers at its weekly meetings, for these speakers
have first hand experience in relevant and
contemporary areas of psychology. Not only does the
Psychology Club function as a social organization
encompassing weekly meetings, off-campus parties
and field trips, but also provides information services
as well. This year the Psychology Club has established
an office for student use in 308 Fenway which has
graduate school catalogues, information on volunteer
opportunities, and any other information to aid
students of psychology to prepare for their future as

Commuting?

Due to the absence of dorms, Boston State is primarily
a commuter school. Therefore, many of us share a
common bond of frustration; the MBTA. So let us take a
typical ride to Boston State College via the infamous
Arborway Line.

Our saga begins at Park Street. We all wait for our
turn to be swallowed by the great metal snake . . . Inch
by inch we make our way along the corroded track.
Remember the dodge-em cars at Nantasket Beach? A
sigh of relief hits us at Northeastern, for perhaps, just
perhaps we'll get a seat. Finally, with the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir singing the Halleluhah Chorus in the
background, we reach Longwood.
The door opens and the "snake" spits us out.
Three cheers for the corageous, determined commuter.

The following bits of verse were written by Lori Green-
berg, one of these valiant commuters, and inspired by
Park Street and the Arborway Line.

Class of 75 Presents
the Junior Class
Semi- Formal

On Saturday, April 27 the Junior Class sponsored a semi-formal dinner
dance at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. The evening began with packed tables
of merry making BSC students. The meal, while it had a fancy sounding
name was largely disappointing. However, the apple pie did add whole-
someness to the meal along with spices of democracy and patriotism.

From here on the Ruby Newman Orchestra then took over with slow groin
grinders that could have lasted til orgasm. Between sets we indulged in their
limited supply of booze and in typical Boston State fashion, bottles emptied
and ice didn't have time to melt.

The pleasant features of the night was seeing the dungaree brigade dress in
high fashion. With low vees and backs, the women were estastically beau-
tiful and obviously feminine. The gents were dressed in dapper suit jackets
and bow ties (most even shaved).

In a school that is so apathetic, it is always great to see students getting it
on together at a social event. Although, in terms of mechanics the evening
wasn't flawless, it didn't undermine the mood of the crowd. They came to
have a good time and did.

At Christmas . . .

There are store parties, office par-
ties, family parties, but there's nev-
er anything quite like Boston State's
"Last day of classes, no more finals,
Christmas is finally here, get bomb-
ed out of your sneakers party."
Over 1,000 students attended this
years, 1 v^ronder how many of them
remember it?

If you're one of those who can't
quite recall what you did on De-
cember 9, 1974, from 2 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Here are a few pictures to help.

Senior Week

It is a tradition (one of the few we have) at Boston State to
bring a student's four years to a close with a week of celebra-
tion.

The Class of "75" enjoyed such a celebration and with typical
Boston State

The weeks activities consisted of:

A Red Sox game

A showing of the movie "Funny Lady"

An Evening with the Boston Pops

The Senior Prom held at Lantana's

A wind up called the "Last Hurrah"

Needless to say, all activities were a smashing success. The
Yearbook Staff has decided to bring this book to a close with a
collection of pictures taken at some of these events. We hope
they bring to mind many happy memories of Senior Week and
your days at Boston State College.
