A semisweet tale
An enjoyable love story though I do feel sorry for Broderick... he loses out twice, but shows a sensitive nobility the second time that pulls at the heart. Between Niven, Young and Crawford, I think his bit in the final scene was actually the most believable. A nice rainy afternoon with the knitting needles kind of film.

Yeah, such a sweet love story...
Pity the poor working stiff, though, who Loretta Young's character marries on the rebound. The way he's caught in the crossfire between his boss and a lovers' quarrel, and finally gets the shaft at the end (she dumps him and goes back to the other guy) doesn't quite leave me with any warm, fuzzy feelings.

Just sit back and smile
Entertaining feature from the Golden Age.The plot is old and thin but who cares? An array of familiar old faces in the supporting cast gives the whole thing a warm, comfortable feeling

Sweet Movie
This is such a darling love story; all the actors are great. I think David Niven kind of looks like an older version of Orlando Bloom.
One of the best films in the archive I've seen so far; don't miss it

Yawn
If you like well-made romantic comedies, this is for you. Performances are good, but the actor's roles weren't exactly challenging. David Niven chews the scenery with magic tricks and theatrics which help to fill in the thin plot. Loretta Young makes with the doe eyes. Broderick Crawford plays the schmo in the middle. Altogether a very forgettable piece of fluff.
I downloaded the mpeg1 file. Video showed a surprising number of actifacts for this compression. The audio was tinny and dropped out for about seven seconds four times during the movie, which was distracting but didn't affect movie enjoyment much as there is no important dialog.
