Journals from 1922 contain a chronological narrative of Deane’s activities and field trips; they include field notes and weather reports for various localities in New England, as well as his interactions with friends and professional aquaintances. The journals also include a comprehensive list of birds observed by Deane in 1922 as well as a list of plant specimens collected in the Shelburne N.H. area. The datebook from 1922 was used as a diary with daily notes on weather, acquaintances and work-related and personal activities
