Entries include field notes regarding flora and fauna, particularly birds, and weather reports for various localities in New England, as well as interactions with friends and professional aquaintances. Also includes a copy of a report sent by Deane to the Biological Survey in Washington, DC and lists of bird and plant species and additional environmental data relevant to Shelburne, N.H. The datebook from 1923 was used as a diary with daily notes on weather, acquaintances and work-related and personal activities
